Not sure how practical something like that is for most shooters. I'd put it more in the novelty/mass murderer category.

I may be able to get you a deal on a Wehrmacht 88mm, cheaper than that thing.

I guess my first question would be, why? Please tell me it isn't for concealed carry!
Frankly, it looks like that would be a functional nightmare. With so many points at which it could fail, it looks like a jam-o-matic.
To that end, I'd suggest you might want to pose this question on the 1911 Forum, where you would have a broader audience specific to the 1911 platform, and maybe someone will have some actual experience with this...uh...thing.

Oh yeah? how much?
I actually know someone who is looking for one. The only one I heard of for sale-was the Uboat version at the Cuxhaven/Altenbruch museum in 2000.

Ill find a way to make it practical. Mainly, I just want something to go with my 1911-and it reminds me of WWI Artillery Lugers.

But I almost bought a 150 round snail drum magazine for a Mini - 14 I once was going to buy. But at a $300 price tag (back in 1988) I opted out of the chance.
Just think of how many Zombies you could massacre with it?

The ghost of John Moses Browning is not amused by this...
But it's guaranteed to give the gun-banners a case of the vapors!

I had a 21 round 1911 Mag (single stack) that was around 14 inches long. I took it backpacking, and used it as a spare ammo box that happen to fit in the 1911. 8+1 in the gun, a second 8 rounder, and a reserve of 21 rounds= 38 Rounds.
The Marlin Camp 45 carbine, uses any 1911 mag!

I wouldn't bother with it. Wouldn't trust those things for anything other than occasional novelty at the range. KCI makes knock off mags for Glocks, AKs ARs, M1 Carbines and apparently 1911. Their Glock mags are better than ProMag but not by much. Their AK mags suck. The metal is thin and the welds are bad, but the newer version are slightly less suck.
I have no experience with their M1 or AR mags but I doubt they are any better

For concealed carry 'printing' might be an issue..
PS That's really neat, but I couldn't afford to feed it.

That mag will make it look sure-nuff serious. Just might get a little noisy. Nothing wrong with having a little fun.

The Marlin or other carbine application sounds like a workable combination and a lot of fun ! Hanging that under a 1911, I would think, would make a pretty unwieldy piece of artillery. YMMV

Well if you want to spend money on that go ahead. I can use normal reliable mags just as easily.
Would you buy questionable tires for your car? How about questionable gas or questionable electronics? Why is it the when it comes to guns people are willing to pay money for junk?

I must be weird, I have no interest in any 1911 magazine over 7 rounds. I never feel like I have enough of them though.
One of the great advantages of a 1911 is the availability of magazines. They are non proprietary, plentiful, and readily available for cheap money.

Larger magazine capacity at the range = more ammo shot up.
My reworked norinco 1911 shoots clusters and cloverleaf at 25 yds. No need th spray and pray.
