Was at the local pawn shop.

There was a Dan Wesson .357, 6 inch, stainless made in Palmer Mass.

The weird thing is... NO BUSHING ON THE BARREL. What gives? I've never seen a DW with no bushing to screw in the shroud.

Here are a few pics. Any help out there on this?

I believe that is a fixed barrel model 715. Don't believe the fixed barrel models are too common but they do exist. Used to own an m15 and it was a great revolver. I've read that ones ones made in Monson, MA are considered to be better quality but that can be subjective.

Yes, Richard is correct, that is a fixed barrel model. I have the same gun with a 3 inch barrel. Nice find.

Great price!

For a period of time the NYPD authorized the Dan Wesson revolver, in .38 Special with a 4" FIXED barrel. Never was too popular with the troops.

The quality control on the Palmer made guns can be an issue, look it over carefully. The Monson made guns overall seem to be the best.

Never seen one of those either. I have an older model 14 with 2.5 inch barrel. It's a Monson, Mass. Dan Wesson and has always felt a lot like a modern GP100 to me. Check out the guys at the Dan Wesson Forum. They might be able to help with more info.

From what little I know about Dan Wesson revolvers, you have a Model 14 (fixed barrel) rather than a Model 15 which is capable of barrel changes with the proper tools. I believe they used a "7" prefix for stainless steel models, thus, yours would be a Model 714 if my memory is correct.

Regards,

Dave
