was searching a local trader site and a guy was offering a Rossi 44 mag snub nose for $325 I thought I have 2 model 629s but this would be a great piece to have just as a shooter
ANYONE HAS ANY OPINIONS?

I have 2 of the Taurus (Brazilian) 431s in 44 special.
Sweet, relatively small, 5 shots, 3 inch barrels.
I wish that they still made them.
The Rossi would be easier to carry than your 629s.

My only experience with a Rossi revolver was very satisfactory.

Don't know about the big boomers, but my M60 clone in .38 Special was a nice little gun I bought new for under $200 eighteen years or so ago.. Carried it daily till I could afford a 640, and was well pleased.

For that price I would buy it. Although I would shoot just 44 spl. as the 44 mag is more than I like to handle in a snub for sure.
I have two older Rossi J frames that are really good guns. They both are like new and I don't see ever selling either one.

I have a small collection of Rossi revolvers, and I enjoy them as compliment to my Smith and Wessons. Robertson's Trading Post in TN was selling a few used Rossi .44 mags a while back, and they - like gman51 - suggested using them mostly with .44 Special and occasionally with Magnums.

I think many or most Rossi's in .44 mag were marketed exclusively through Academy as new guns. I have heard about some problems with some of the production runs, but that's just hearsay on my part. Robertson's is pretty knowledgeable and honest and they said nothing about problems.
