Anyone who owns or had owned the Sig P-6 I'd like to get your opinions.
A West German PD trade-in, frame, slide and barrel numbers match.
Date on slide is 2/82 with N/W for the agency it was issued to.
Moderate holster wear. No dings or scrapes.
Two mags, W/German PD issued holster and box.

I might be trading a Sig P-220 for it.
A U.S. LEO agency trade-in.

Great gun, my son borrow it five years ago, he apparently loves it too! He used it to save him from a goring or maybe his life from a charging Boar down Fl. last year. Didn't put the Boar down but gave him a chance to get away into the swamp.

Easy to strip and shoots to point of aim, worked every time I or him pulled the trigger.

I'll try to stay clear of wild Boars.

Sig makes extra thin plastic grips for the P220. Turns it into a different feeling gun. Well worth the purchase. Get those and you might forget about that P-6. I did and never looked back.

I do like the P-220, and the grips might be the way to go.
Now you got me thinking I should just buy the P-6 and keep the 220.
What would be a fair offer?
I looked on gun broker and only saw 2.

The P6/P225 is a P220 shrunk dimensionally to meet the size requirements of the 1970s German police pistol trials. Same mechanicals, same generation. In my experience, the police P6 tends to have a somewhat "stouter" trigger pull than the commercial P225.

So if you have and are familiar with the P220, you know all you need to know, other than how the gun feels in your hand in comparison. And we can't help you with that ;)

The last NW P6 I bought at a show about six years ago. Cost me 375 with one mag and German police holster. Managed to sell it about two years ago for 450. Don't know how helpful that is for current prices.

Ya, the DA trigger pull is rated at 12 pounds. I gave it a go today.
SA is great and short reset.
My 220 is the DAK trigger. Which I like.

That's very helpful info to me.
I talked to him on the phone about just buying it a few minutes ago.
$550.00.
At least it has 2 mags. All Sig mags are big $$$.
Even the Mec Gar's.

Thanks for your input.

I own three Sig P225 pistols. In my area you can not find a ratty P6 for less than $500.00, a pristine P225 in the box will bring a few hundred more.

I would not part with a P220 if I could afford to buy the P6 outright.

Sig P225 mags are no longer available through Sig Sauer, your choices are used factory or Pro Mags.

I love the feel of my Sig P6, it was my first and only sig, because while I loved the feel of the gun, I hated the mushy trigger so it doesn't get shot much.

Great weight, great feel

Poor trigger (to me), poor aftermarket

Mags can be had for cheap if you are patient, numrich usually has P225 mags cheaper than most P6 mags are selling for on ebay. I picked up 7 or 8 mags for mine.

I paid $330 andOTD for my Sig P6, came with two mags and the blue plastic box to the female police officer to whom it had been issued. Aim used to sell the P6 mags for about 17.00 and the price came down depending how many mags you ordered. I bought a few extras myself. Last Sig P6 I saw for sale they were asking $450 with two mags and the blue plastic box. I also managed to locate a few of the AKAH leather magazine pouches and a AKAH leg holster in almost mint condition.Has a leather flap that has two snaps that have to be undone before you can unholster the pistol and another AKAH holster made out of some plastic with the same leather flap and the two snaps. That P6 will outshoot my Beretta 92FS!. Frank

I have an older P6 (1980). After I bought it, I decided my P239 was expendable. Although heavier, the P6 felt much better in my hand. The size difference was not significant to me. I also have a an older W. German P220 with the flat spur hammer, which I would never trade away. Supposedly, the P6 has trouble feeding hollow points, but that has not been my experience. It is a pretty simple fix to the feed ramp if you do have a problem. The trigger is not great, but not terrible for a service pistol. Those import pieces have been well maintained and are usually in excellent condition with very minor cosmetic issues. You won't make a mistake by getting one, but trading off a P220 would be an iffy proposition for me. Good luck.

I wanted a 225/P6 for about a decade ( late 80s/90s) for "concealed carry" but never saw one for sale in a LGS...... finally got one in the late 90s. Nice gun........ but

The 225 was bigger than I expected........and by the time I found one.....

o my 3913 was a better concealed carry piece.... and
o for a "Service Size" single stack 9mm I liked my Beretta 92 Type M better......
o if I wanted a service size Sig........ my 220 or Compact 245 in .45 were my first and second choices.

I got a P6 years ago and it is one of my most reliable and easy to shoot hand guns. I liked it so much, I bought a 225 several years later. Mine is very early and I had to have the feed ramp reshaped so that it would feed hp's. At the time, that was only $45.00.

Don't pass it up.

I agree there are better carry guns than a P-6.
I carry Glocks.

I have a 3913 LS and when I bring the P-6 home latter today I'll do a size and grip feel comparison between the two.

When my buddy told me he wanted to get rid of his Sig and that it is a West German PD trade-in I offered my USA built P-220 in trade.

I've always wanted a 100% German built Sig so for $450.00 I'll have one plus keeping my P-220 DAK 45.
I really like the trigger on it.

Thanks for your input.
