I had been looking for a nice shooter 1911 so that I would not shoot my "prettier full size 1911" and my 4506 as much. I went with the Springfield Mil Spec. I look forward to taking it to the range. I imagine a few others out there have these?

A standard configuration NM (2-tone) 1911 Springfield Armory (since 1990) and a G.Madore accurized, w/ Aimpoint Red Dot sight, Springfield Armory (since 1997) have never disappointed.

The G. Madore can stand up alongside some of the best accurized 1911s out there.

I've owned/ own several. The majority bought to be gifts.

No problems at all with any of them (I've shot all of them as "QC").

I bought a R.O. in 9mm for IDPA matches. Added a Ed Brown magwell, Dawson F.O. front sight and cleaned up the sear. What a great shooter and it's a toss up between it and my Sig XO (45acp) for favorite semi-auto. Also had a S.A. stainless target loaded in 45acp. Another really good 1911, but I prefered my Sig's a touch more and it got sold on.
Agree with steveno. There's a bunch of good 1911's out there now but I think Springfield Armory gives you "the next level up" quality for the money.

I'm a huge fan of the Springfield 1911s and currently own four. A loaded G.I., a Range Officer, a light weight Operator and an Ultra-Compact. Great guns at a reasonable price. Plus, if needed, they have the best customer service in the business.
I've used the loaded G.I. model for IDPA for close to 12 years now. At somewhere north of 30,000 rounds, the barrel lug cracked. Springfield paid shipping both ways, repaired and returned the gun in 8 days. :D

I recently bought a new Springfield mil-spec. I put a long trigger in it and replaced the curved MSH with a flat checkered one. With no tuning it's run 100% so far with my 200 gr SWC reloads. About 800 rounds thru it. Great gun.

I have an older Mil Spec I am the third owner of. My go-to shooter, great pistol. I have 5 or six other Springfields as well, and they are all good pistols for the money in my opinion.

I bought a Springfield loaded SS used a couple of years ago, never an issue with it. Gave it to my son and it is still going strong after many thousands of rounds. I like Springfield's, good value for the money. A lot of nice little custom touches that are much more money with other brands.
