I ran across an interesting revolver at a gun show in February. It was a stainless 2.5 inch Palmer era Dan Wesson with fixed sights......and a fixed barrel. Neither of which I even knew existed. With a $395 price tag it was the cheapest gun I've bought since I really started paying attention. I knew it was uncommon but just how uncommon I wasn't sure of. Needless to say I get home, start browsing around on the web and come up empty handed. I think I found one picture searching google images, but not one other bit of info anywhere. I am not even sure of what the model number is. I suppose a 714? I've read through all the DW fixed barrel threads and I still know about as much as I did beforehand.

Then just by chance I stumble across another one on GB. Beautiful looking gun going by the sellers pictures. I knew this one wasn't going to be so cheap ($300 more all said and done). These fixed barrel guns aren't super high priced sellers, after all the best part of owning a DW is, you guessed it, changing the barrels. This one really spoke to me though. Where else can you get a really nice 3" blued 6 shot 357 mag with adjustable sights? (forget about a 3" 586-4)

I really can't find any other DW grips I like better than the custom combats that came with it.

Both guns were actually gummed up inside pretty equally. Perhaps it was something they used during assembly that didn't hold up over 20+ years. I will say one thing, getting the ejector rod off for cylinder removal/yoke cleaning is a little more challenging than a S&W. What worked perfect though was a drill chuck just snugged down and spun by hand. The ejector rod is RH threads too.

These Dan Wesson's probably aren't popular enough to gain the attention they deserve but I know this, with the price that Smith's are climbing to I'll be looking out for more!

Nice collection of fixed barrels specially the stainless model . My first 3 DW were back from the mid to late 70's . I guess the ability to swamp barrels never turned out to be much of a plus for me . Took me 30 years to try my 4" and not long to go back to the 8" for hunting . Wifes 15-2 is a 6" and we have a 22lr 4" .

I saw a DW 4" 357 that looked like new in a pawn shop for $350 and I wondered why so low a price when the pawn shop had a few old Colts that looked like worn outs for $700. I decided to go home and research the DW.
I found a bit of info saying the DW wasn't all that well made and were prone to problems and $350 was an average price for one. Since then I have found many other reports that said exactly the opposite and they were good guns. I guess because of the weird cylinder release lever position and barrel kit it caused more than a few to discredit the DW revolvers.
I wish now I had bought it even though the gun had only the one barrel instead of the whole barrel kit.

You don't see that many Dan Wessons, especially the Pistol Pacs, for sale, because those of us who have them, keep them.

My DW 357 SuperMags are some of my most favorite shooters.
Accurate out to 200 yards. I just got a .32 H&R magnum as well.
All the DW's I've seen were gorgeous, but I'm prejudiced.

I actually do have 3 other Dan Wesson's too. All 8 inchers. A 15-2 8H, 375-V8S and 740-V8S palmer. They are 3 of my favorite guns.

I also have a 15 inch vent heavy shroud and barrel for the 15-2.
