I found a High Standard Victor in a not so local gun shop (neighboring state) in excellent condition. It's a High Standard Mfg Corp. Hamden stamped pistol that dates to July 1971.

The magazine lips need a bit of tuning, but it otherwise shoots very well.

Wonderful guns! I have two and both will shoot lights out if I do my part. This was s 20 shot group fired at 50 yds. with one of mine and a 2x Burris scope. I have rifles that won’t shoot that well.

It's my second Victor. My fist is a Hamden marked example from 1975-76 with the solid aluminum rail. It came with the mount and I added a 2x Nikon, since someone used something other than blue Locktite and it'll take a lot of heat to remove the mount screws.

It also shoots well - five shot 50 ft group off a rest:

I had its twin brother in the early 80's and traded it on something else . I'm still kicking myself in the butt for doing that.

My Victor bullseye gun with a CPC barrel milled for tip off scope mounts. Trigger by Mike Curtis. When I stopped shooting bullseye I had a line of folks who wanted to buy it. Hard to find a more accurate .22 target pistol.

I've had a Citation for ages. Back in the Eighties when IHMSA was popular, I'd shoot mine in small bore silhouette matches. Hundred meter rams were no challenge, turkeys were the troublesome targets. Going 40 for 40 was dependent purely on the shooter, the gun would deliver! Standard velocity Winchester T22 was good enough. Shot every class but revolver.

My Bullseye days are pretty much done, but as someone upthread mentioned, I have rifles that aren't as accurate. I wouldn't trade it for a bucket full of 41's

I started bullseye competition with a Ruger MKI, I upgraded to a Hi Standard Citation and later a Victor. They were good guns, but the last several years of my active competition, I shot a Hammerli 208s. The Hammerli stands head and shoulders above all the rest. I shot my personal bests with it and eclipsed all the other PB's with the other pistols. That being said, the OP's Hi Standard is a keeper!

Fabulous gun!!

I had a Victor and The Victor and sold them to my friend in Utah that is a High Standard collector and had about 90 of them.

Are there any pistolsmiths that still know how to tune the magazines so that they work 100% anymore?

Seems like those that did are all deceased..........

You might check out the Rimfire-Central website for instructions on how to make your own tool and tune them yourself. You might need some calipers but it can be done.

If you go to the big auction site and look up "High Standard Magazine Tool" you can buy a tool that will bend the feed lips and has a built in gauge for measurement. It's pretty handy.

If you want to go cheap, you can make a tool from some bar stock or even an old bolt by simply sawing a groove into it near the bottom with a hack saw. Works fine, but no check gauge.

Had mine since 1972, practicing Bullseye with it is how I learned to shoot a
handgun.

Had a Hamden Victor with wooden presentation box and assorted weights. Traded it for a shotgun. Kicked my rear over it for thirty years.
Found one w/o accessories, in my FL LGS. Got it for a good price cash. Seems they had it for a while since no one knew what it was.
I am happy, though I can't shoot it like I could younger.

I currently own a E. Hartford Citation with two fluted barrels. I have considered mounting a 4x scope on the unweighted barrel.
