Grips for Colt SAA
I just acquired a Colt SAA. 7&1/2" barrel, blue, .45Colt. It was made in 1957. I am pretty happy with it. The only problem is that it has some after market Mother of Pearl grips on it. I think the grips are about the same age as the gun. I do not like the grips. I want to get another grip for it. I am thinking about a one piece grip. I saw a SAA once that had a one piece checkered wood grip. It was very nice. Does anyone here have any recommendations on who or where to get a quality one piece grip from? Thanks for any suggestions.

Check out Nutmeg Sports at Nutmeg Sports, LLC. There is also Peacemaker Specialists at Colt Single Action Army Revolver- Edward Janis, colt single action, peacemaker, single action army, colt, colt single action, colt pistol, colt revolver, colt gun. I believe you will have to send your Colt to either of them for fitting. When it comes to Colt SAA grips, one size definitely does NOT fit all. Also, you might have better luck with your question on the Colt Forum.

What he said! I have owned several of them and some have had custom grips fitted to them. Whoever you choose, have the grips fitted to the frame. The other alternative is to try to find a set of original Colt grips for the particular gun and they will more than likely fit properly.

I have six Colt single actions..All slightly different. You will have to have a custom stock maker to fit them...

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I am not a member of the Colt Forum. I don't post on forums very much and hate to join one for just one question.
I realize I will have to get a new grip fitted. That is why I was hoping for recommendations of reliable businesses.

Rob Rowen, who apprenticed under Roy Fishpaw if I remember correctly, is among the best makers for custom SAA grips right now: ROWEN CUSTOM GRIPS, LLC - Home
