Roper grips
Sixgun Strumpet;
The Exquisite Roper grips that you picture in your post #21, bring tears to my eyes. They show what I would consider a perfect example of, top of the line custom grips used in the era of bullseye competition that I competed in. They are just beautiful in their well used, good condition, and are a part of history. Give them a coat of Renaissance wax, consider yourself very fortunate, and never part with them. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Will do.
One additional thing that is somewhat amusing to me about them is that they appear to have been chewed on by either a toddler, or a pet. Not sure which.
Overall though they do make me a bit sad that I wasn't around when I could order such a set new for myself. It's wonderful to be able to dig up the old ones, but I can't help but feel I missed out on some pretty special times.

I'll probably never find a set of grips like them. I shouldn't be looking fore something else firearm related to collect, since i'm starting on my 89th year, but, those grips look extra special nice to me, and I can't help but wish.

Very kind words and I truly appreciate you taking the time to comment.
This person seems to come up with these, or he makes them, not sure which. Premium Amboyna & Green Pearl 1911 Grips | eBay
You might check from time to time to see what he has available.
By the way, green is my favorite color as well!

I am not too sure if Ivory is considered "Custom" these days, but I like the way it looks with blue steel
Smooth walnut looks good on this stainless Gold Cup Commander
Ebony makes a nice contrast on this Delta Gold Cup
This Les Baer Concept VII is wearing smooth Amboyna Burl while the TargetMaster LS has smooth Kingwood that Les lasered his logo into for me
This 45 SUPER Springfield LS is wearing Ahernd Coco Bolo Tactical grips
THOR is wearing Esmeralda grips with THOR's hammer scrimshawed in
This 9x23 two tone is wearing smoooth Kingwood grips
I have a few sets of grips that are not on 1911s yet.
This is a pair of carved African Ivory grips for the 1911 pistol that has Madagascar Rosewood inlaid in the grip. They have great color and wonderful scrollwork. These grips do not have a home yet
I have another Esmeralda but I guess it is not photographed
