Picked up my new Ruger 57 from the gun store and first trip to range, using American Eagle 40gr shots were hitting exactly where I was aiming. However, once I switched to I believe SS198LF and my shots immediately was printing fine but shots were 2.5 inches high and 1.5 inches left of point of aim.

After adjusting my sights shots were back to creating 1" groups at 21 feet. At 50ft my shots were combat accurate, about the size of a softball which was decent

Felt recoil was less than my FN57 and I stand to be corrected but do believe the bore axis on Ruger is much lower than the FN. Ruger really shot flat and it was a pleasure to shoot

Ergonomics the gun felt great in my hand, the grip was a lot smaller than the FN57. The only concern I have, the Ruger 57 uses an "allow steel" but does not mention "hammer forged" so not sure this can be considered duty use. My FN57 I was never a huge fan because the trigger is 6lbs yes it is crisp but a bit too heavy for my liking. But the one thing I do really like about the FN57 the barrel is very tough and built to last. Not sure if the Ruger barrel can stand up to the same hard use.

The steel mags of the Ruger helps make the gun easier for folks with small hands to hold as the all plastic mag from FN57 is thicker. However, I work outside in the summer and steel mags I have used in other guns rust unless I wipe it down daily. With the FN57 not a problem.

I put about 200 rounds of American Eagle and 200 rounds of SS198LF no stoppages or malfunctions. The only other complaint about the Ruger 57 their is a fair amount of creep but I have other stirker fired pistols like the Mod2 springfield which has a lot of creep but learned to overcome it. The trigger is however very light and believe around 4lbs.

Paul Harrel just recently did a video comparing the FN and the Ruger . The Ruger was less money , had " zero " stoppages and the sights didn't drift . The FN had problems with stoppages , before and during the video , sights drifted (which he had to replace) and cost quite a bit more . He seemed to like the Ruger better . Regards, Paul

I think the stoppages is because the grip is so big, it forces users to rotate their hand, thus creating more movement of the frame moving as well as the slide, thus causing stove pipeing and double feeds etc.

I had no issues with sight drifting but did have to send my FN back because with a full magazine, you could not release the slide by slingshotting it. You could only release slide using slide lock.

Now that I got my Ruger 57 I am seriously considering getting rid of my FN57. I do not like FN too much

Release the Kraken

I've been very interested in the Ruger 57 ever since it was announced.
I had handled the FN at a local live auction last summer but decided the grip was too large for me. Happy to learn the Ruger grip is smaller.
Patiently waiting for my distributor to have an available one.
