Saw this the other day. Looks like they will keep the Gen3 for California sales and update to the Gen5.

Glock Has Reached the End of the Line on Gen 4 9mm, .40S&W

I have a Gen3 19 that I gave to my son when he got out of the USMC. He loves it and that thing has never failed even with some crappy steel case stuff. It's his EDC.

I guess the company just wants to focus on two versions instead of three.

Interesting. Makes sense.

I used to have a Gen3 Glock 23. It was a good gun. A bit snappy, but not uncontrollable. Got slide bite at least once per range trip.

I've shot a Gen4 and Gen5 Glock 19 side-by-side a couple years ago at a rental range. Aside from the lack of finger grooves and the annoying half-moon cut on the Gen5 front strap, I couldn't really tell the difference. For me, I never even noticed the finger grooves on the 19/23 as they fit my hands perfectly, better than any other finger-grooved gun/grip I've tried.

I am curious about one thing. If the Gen3 Glocks are going to be produced for the CA market, will they be available elsewhere, or are they going to scale back production and limit distribution to CA? I would prefer the Gen3 to the Gen5 primarily because with the Gen3 I could still use the NY1/"-" connector trigger set-up I like. That option isn't available with the Gen5 guns, as far as I know. Not that I'm planning on getting one anytime soon, but I think at some point I'd like to add a Glock 19 to my collection.

So... Does that mean they'll finally be introducing Gen 5 variations of all of the Gen 4 Models which lack Gen 5 Variants?

Based on what I read in the linked article, it seems that Glock will be discontinuing some of their Gen4 models, hinting that maybe the Gen4 10mm and .45ACP pistols would be going away. I may have read it wrong, though. I think the article only mentioned Gen5 .40S&W pistols coming out, in addition to the current Gen5 models.

I've got 2 Gen 3 Glock 27s & 2 Gen 4 Glock 30s. I don't use the modular grip back straps & even though I'm a leftie I'm fine with the Gen 3 non-reversible Mag release, I use my index finger. I as well think overall Gen 3s are hard to beat. I don't even know what Gen 5 is about LOL.

That would be a terrible shame, especially for diehard fans of 10mm Auto, who already have extremely limited options when it comes to 10mm pistols.

I just sold a Gen 4 FDE 19 that I had tricked up. I am a lefty, don't care for finger groves and didn't like the fact that the slide lock/slide release is not available for left hand operation. I have been trying to go to pistols that work well for left handed shooter thus I now have a Gen 5 Glock 45 and an M&P 2.0 compact that I am working with.

I'm glad to hear that, at least. My brother really wants a Glock 32, so it's a shame they're most likely history. Fortunately, a Glock 23 can be converted to a 32 with a drop-in .357 SIG Barrel.

I'm a lefty and just got a 19x.

No finger grooves, ambi slide release.

I did that in the mid 90's. One of my best moves. It's a Glock 22 w/BarSto and a tack driver. I just wrote Glock and tack driver in the same sentence. Other than that my Glock collection are Gen 2 and 2.5 G20s and a Gen3 29sf.

I still only have a gen 1 or 2 G22 and a gen 3 G23, I am pretty sure I don't need another one.
