Just picked up this Gerber Strongarm knife (also available in FDE and/or partially serrated blade).

Gerber did a nice job with this shank. Especially the scabbard. The knife itself has good heft, well balanced, and razor sharp out of the box. Thick, full shank blade with rubber handle with diamond grip for non-slip.

The knife can be carried conventionally on a belt, drop-leg, small of back, or, attached to Molle equipment, thanks to the different accessories that come with the hard plastic scabbard.

For a little less than $100.00 clams, it's a real nice knife to add to your tactical gear, bug-out bag, camping, bushcraft, or, whatever else you can think of....:D

Yep. I'm contemplating getting at least one more. The only thing that I think Gerber could have done a better job on, is the nylon attachment piece. Found a guy on You Tube that makes a one piece extension out of Kydex that you can attach different mounting attachments to. Yeah, I just ordered one.....

Unlike most of Gerber’s output, the Strongarm seems to be pretty well regarded. Make that “universally well regarded”. I have yet to read or hear an unkind word about it, remarkable considering how reviewers love to dump on Gerber products. Looks like it should serve you well.

Like its looks better than their Bear Grylls model.

Will seek reviews. Is the tang full length? Steel type?

Thanks for posting.

I used to have quite a few different Gerber knives back in the day. Mostly their single, or, double edged fixed blades. Just a couple of folders. Ended breaking most of them throwing them into trees and such. One of my favorites was the camo Guardian boot knife. I bought from a place called 'Harry's Army Surplus' back in the early 80's for around $70.00 I think. Just saw one in mint condition sell on e-bay for $261.00!! I think I lost that one somewhere.

I still have this one, though. An early 80's model:

I still have the Gerber I cannot remember model # it was the boot knife single edged with serration near tip on other side.
I bought it at Harry’s army surplus many year ago.I also still have the Randall # 1 I bought there in the mid 1970’s.Harrys was a great store. But now I am going to have to look up that new Gerber online.

Saw a couple reviews and it looks like a quality blade for the money. Believe it is 420 H.C. steel but is a strong full tang blade. I bought a similar Gerber with a tanto blade which is similar. Should be a good workhorse.

I have been eyeballing the Strongarm for a while now. I have also been looking at the Gerber Prodigy made for Walmart @ $49.97. looks to be the same/similar knife. The FDE is really calling me! :-)

I found a guy in Wisconsin who makes these Kydex pieces that replace the (not so well designed) floppy nylon/snaps belt loop attachment that comes with the knife/sheath. It comes with your choice of several different styles of belt attachments. I opted for the AB3 belt clip. It simply attaches nice and tight to the sheath using the 'slip-stick'. For $16.00 delivered it's a bargain! It eliminates all of the 'floppyness' when hanging from your belt.

I have to note that the name “strongarm” is off-putting for me: we have an attorney in these parts who has named himself “the strongarm” and has dominated the attorney TV marketing space singlehandedly since 1989.

Hard to go 30 minutes without running into one of his tv pitches. He’s big in billboards too.

I can’t imagine owning a knife with that appellation and being able to keep a straight face.

Sounds like a similar ad. He's in Dallas, San Antonio, maybe Houston.

I don’t know if it’s in the criminal code, but the crime statistics here used to distinguish armed robbery from strongarm robbery. Now I think of it, that would make “Strongarm” a pointless name for a knife.

I had a couple of felony cases against a prosecutor we called “Kathy the Hammer”. The name stuck when she got on the bench. I always liked her and got along well with her. She gave me a couple of rulings in favor of a gangbanger client that really ticked off the prosecutors. They were sound rulings, but the prosecution really wanted her to go the other way.
