Thirty or so years ago I was making my living selling businesses
and commercial real estate. Got a call one day from Ray Wilkerson
who owned a business called Wilkerson Arms. It was
located in Parma, Idaho. A small farming community 25 miles
or so west of Boise.
Ray wanted to sell his real estate and business. He had designed
a 9MM carbine that was way ahead of it's time. I think he had
4 daughters and named his guns after his daughters, The first
carbine was called Terry. A later improved version was Linda.
He also made a little .25 caliber semi-automatic that he named
Diane. The subject of this post is the little .22LR semi-automaic
that he called the Sherry. American Handgunner reviewed the
Sherry in it's March-April 1987 edition and said "perhaps the
finest .22 LR semi-automatic in America today.
It is 4.5" long, 3" tall and .875" thick. It weighs 9.5 oz. empty.
The frame is gold anodized aluminum alloy. The slide and other
steel parts are a very dark, almost black, blue. The name Sherry
on each side of the slide is filled with gold.
There is a business in Murphy, Idaho that makes and sells parts
for Wilkinson's Arms. They are also called Wilkinson Arms. I
don't know what the relationship is to the original business.
As far as I can tell, the only gun that they are making is the
little carbine 9MM.
The little pocket pistols show up, from time to time, on the gun
auctions. I would like to have a Sherry.
