Ever since the new Colt Anaconda was announced with a 6 inch barrel, I have been on the hunt. There are dozens of gun shops within 50 miles of my home in N. Central PA, and I have diligently been searching them all. I have found a total of one shop that had an 8 inch Anaconda - at $450.00 over retail. I refuse to pay that kind of mark up, so I have been biding my time. I was heartened by the fact a buddy found one last week at a local shop, but he paid a premium.

Yesterday, I came across a shop with a new 6 inch gun in stock, at RETAIL price. Said it was the first one he had seen, and he had just placed it in the sales cabinet about 10 minutes before I walked in. I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough...:)

Frankly, I am thrilled. Beautiful fit and finish, great DA trigger, and SA is very good - Maybe not quite up to a good S&W, but close. Gun is going to need a set of nice, figured walnut custom grips. Attached a quick cell phone picture. My .44 magnum addiction continues...

Added a set of Hogue wood grips to the gun. Looks better to my eyes, and they fit my hand well.

Took it to the range the other day. Was killing clay pigeons on the berm at 25 yards with boring regularity - 240 grain SWC at 950 fps. Only feature I don't like on the gun is the rear sight. Set screw for windage adjustments - no click detents. Regular click adjustments for elevation.

Beautiful. I still want one of those new snake guns either in 44 or 357 flavor. If they made a 4" or shorter barrel Anaconda I would be all over that.

New Anaconda

Love to read this. I am in CT. Lots of Colts in shops here. In fact, one of the Colt guys works in a local gun shop and he makes sure they are flush with Colt 1911's and the new Pythons and Anacondas.
I took my new Anaconda 6" out yesterday and put 70 rounds thru it. Hit 12" steel at 100 yards with ease. Great trigger and all the weight made shooting .44 actually fun. The gun looks like it will be not too balanced but when you pick it up it balances really well for a 53 oz. gun. Love the grip.
The new CZ\Colt higher up stopped into this shop a few days ago and actually asked "what do you guys want to see more of from Colt ?" They told them more revolvers with different barrel lengths (4" Snack new and 2.5" Python are coming) .
The new operation (CZ) is 100% committed to the revolver line up it seems and is actually interested in customer demand.
I think they hit a home run bringing back the Anaconda and Python.

A 4 inch Anaconda would really get my attention, and if they did one in Royal Blue, I would be all over it.

Another thing I noticed with this new gun is the DA trigger stroke seems like it is shorter than that of an N frame, though I have not actually measured it. I may end up taking a polishing wheel to the trigger face, as I do not care for a serrated trigger when shooting DA. I usually shoot mostly SA with my big bore revolvers, but this ones excellent DA trigger pull cries out for some DA use.

Congrats! Glad you got one. For new guns this is #1 for me.

Each week I go and find something no retail--MSRP--on this one. I am patient, I can wait...First one I see on the trail at MSRP, I am buying.

Should this go on a year, I'll pay. Just been doing this for a time.

Used to be I refused to pay MSRP on a new gun, but on something like this you have to bite the bullet. I have spent a lot of time recently hitting the shops, looking, and in fact I have saved nothing really, as I keep bumping into guns I didn't know I needed. Time to slow down, and spend a little more time at the range, not enriching my local dealers.
