Don't get me wrong, I love my Smith and Wessons. I also have a soft spot for the original Kimber of Oregon rifles. Just wondering if there are any others. Anyone know of a site or forum dedicated to them? Rimfire Central has a Kimber sub-forum but it is primarily rimfire only. Most of mine are centerfire, I only have one 22lr.

Sorry, I can't help you with any forums, but I once bought Kimber of Oregon 22LR, 22WMR, and 223 rifles on the same day. It seems like a good idea at the time, but none of the three really shot to the level I'd expect so I ended up selling them. They were nice looking rifles though!

As a lefty, the Kimber of Oregon LH options were very attractive to me.

I currently have a 22LR and a 22 Hornet. Both of them are high quality, very accurate rifles.

I had one of the original Kimber .22 bolt actions. Beautiful rifle, but it just was not a shooter. Best I could get was about an inch at 50 yards. Sold it.

When they moved to NY, I bought one of the first year 1911 Custom Target models. (Even though the earliest 1911's, about 6 or 7 thousand, were Oregon marked, they were made in NY, with test firing back in Oregon as Kimber did not yet have a range in NY, and their Manufacturers FFL had not yet transferred to NY, hence the Oregon markings). One of the best fit and most accurate 1911's I have ever shot or owned.

Decided to try one of the "new" NY made .22 rifles, a "Custom Hunter" model. Very well made, and my most accurate .22 rifle - 1/3 inch 5 shot groups at 50 yards.

That re-sold me on Kimber, and I now own 10 rifles and 1911's combined. A couple pics attached.

Larry

Don’t own a Kimber, the early ones were nice guns. The 1911’s seemed to develop into a love them or hate them item.

Any way, glad to see you are OK Bill and watching the forum. Go into the lounge, the NE Ohio Bunch is on May 21. I surely hope you will make it, the creek didn’t rise yet. Larry

No pics but I have a KOA in 223 with 4 digit sn, a pair of 82G rifles…perk of living an hour from the CMP North store, a 82 in 22lr and another in 22mag
I enjoy each!

I bought a 221 Fireball Ultra Varmint when Kimber of Oregon went out of business. Still have it. Never going to sell. Also bought a stainless fluted 22 that is called the light Varmint. It is deadly accurate and even have won a couple of bench rest matches with it.

I have had three Kimbers. 3 digit serial number, 4xx, model 82 I purchased in ‘79 if I remember correctly. Great rifle, very accurate, and well made.
Also had a .223 M84 that was offered with the same serial #. Beautiful rifle but was not very accurate and after going back to the factory it still would not shoot like I thought it should. Sold it sometime later.
I sold the .22 in the late 90’s for a reason I can’t remember and bought a Yonkers NY 22 classic around 2002, maybe. Most accurate sporter .22 I have ever owned. Still have it. Shot sporter class silhouette with it with some success and small game hunting.
It will stay in the family for many years as my son has his eye on it already.😳😁

Many thanks to everyone for the replies, I appreciate them. I will check out the link to the Kimber forum posted, thanks!!

I have been a fan for a long time, since I was a very young man. I bought a couple way back when, still have them. Have added a few along the years. Nearly all are the more obscure calibers, several are wildcats. I will try to post up a few photos as time allows.

Hey Larry, I have seen the thread about the meeting of the "NE Ohio Bunch". I've been doing ok for an old man with a bad ticker, it's still ticking, LOL!! I will certainly try to attend.

Thanks again to everyone for the replies. Bob
