AR-15 Buffer Tube on Shotgun
AR Industries is advertising a Mossberg 500 rear pistol grip which is threaded at the back to accept an AR-15 buffer tube. What would be the purpose in doing that? Only thing I could think of would be to enable the mounting of an M-4 type adjustable butt stock, but wouldn't that just defeat most of the purpose of shortening of the firearm with the pistol grip?

Good idea on part of Mossberg because once you shoot a pistol grip shotgun and although “handy”, they are a bear to shoot and shoot accurately.

Some people just gotta have that AR/tacticool stock on whatever they are shooting. They probably have spoons in the kitchen drawer with buffer tube attachments.

an AR type adjustable stock would be nice for people of different build to use the same gun. For instance my wife is a bit smaller than I with shorter arms and most full length stocks don't fit her well. As to a pistol grip shotgun with no stock while they look "cool" they are a bear to shoot. Hard to hold on to, harder still to actually aim. I have seen more than one person miss a target completely with their "tacticool" pistol grip gun and the internet is full of video clips of people losing their grip on such guns. A shotgun with a stock is a much better choice for actual use.
