I have a 9mm magazine that I’ve identified as a Suomi (Finland) and is for the model M31/KP31. It holds 36 rounds.

In reading about them I read they are interchangeable with other weapons including the S&W m76.

Is anyone familiar with this.. will it work in a S&W? I don’t own anything that this would fit, but would like to find out how compatible it is with other weapons before deciding what to do with it.

Thanks for your comments.

They will fit the S&W76, MK760, and the Swedish K/Port Said, and the modified Kp31 Suomi, among others

I have a few of these myself and 2 Suomi KP-31s. I don't know about usability in other guns but they seem to be pretty reliable in the Suomi carbine I've fired them in.

Are your Kp31 NFA, or semis?

if you have the drums marked --- with SA in a square, it is Finnish. A is for "arsonel"

There are still semiautomatic Suomi KP-31 carbines floating around. Maybe the plan should be is to get the gun to go with the magazine. They are fun for blasting pumpkins at 50 yards, like I did at my honorary nephew's (I'm a friend of the family and addressed as "Uncle") shooting match over in Lancaster County, PA.

Hi Linda:

I have several of those mags for use in my S&W M76. In fact, that is one of the Suomi mags in my 76 in the photo below. I use them and thus save my S&W marked mags from getting dinged up on the range.

They usually work just fine, except that one lug on the Suomi needs to be filed/ground down a small bit to allow functioning in the S&W. Not a big job to accomplish but the mags won't fit without doing so.

HTH.

Regards,
Charlie
