So I have been looking for a small around the yard, small gun that I can use on vacations where I usually live on the beach and rarely go into more than up to my ankles. I also hike my land and wanted something to plink with if the mood strikes. Got it from my FFL and loaded up the three mags and headed to the range.

Took her out yesterday as the weather finally cooperated
First some Federal lead - only one stoppage in 60 rounds. My buddy tried it and no issues. It had a silver Cerakote slide and the little silver sights where hard to see so 10 yards I was all over the place.

Next we did some Aquila FMJ
That had a nice sharp noise and a little bit of muzzle flash
60 rounds no failures. Took my time and the grouping shrunk a little

Light was fading and I loaded up some CCI stingers. JHP with what appears to be nickel casing which surprised me as most .22 ammo I’ve bought over the years has been brass.

Good grief the muzzle flash and report out of the little .22 was a surprise. I went through almost all the stingers I had between the two of us. We both had great big grins every time we fired it. No malfunctions. That grouped real nice with a few 5 round strings into a palm sized grouping. What a flame out of the end of that little barrel.

Next up is some Federal Punch this weekend. But this little pistol sure does like the stingers.

I also had a chance to finally shoot my Henry AR-7 survival rifle. Had some stoppages with the lead rounds as the chamber mouth is sharp and the soft lead got caught a few times. Aquila had no issues with the full jacket. Got it home and polished the end of the barrel gently. Hoping to test it out again.

On a side note I got this rifle years ago from a guy moving into a retirement home. He never shot it and truth be told I forgot about it in the back of the safe. While I was digging through my ammo I decided to get her shooting so took it apart to clean. ZING off when the magazine release spring. Looked for hours and no luck. Called Henry, told them I’ve had this gun for 6 years and like a dope didn’t review any videos before taking off the side plate. They said no problem and sent me a new one for free! Henry has great customer service.

Next up I defend the range against some dangerous soda cans. 😀

Never shot the Ruger in 22. Have had several experiences with AR-7. The originals functioned well and were plinker accuracy. The later models that were made by other companies including Charter Arms were junk as far as function. Accuracy is the same for all them. Haven’t had experience with Henry yet.

I've never shot the Ruger or the Henry, but my Walther PPK/S in 22 LOVES the CCI Stingers. As you said there is a definite difference in report, and even the recoil compared to "normal" 22 ammo. Mini-mags work well too, but the Stingers have a higher velocity listed on the box than even the mini-mags (1640-vs 1235 IIRC). Of course those figures are out of a rifle barrel I'm sure.

I've had a lot of 22's over the years, but I think this PPK/S is one of the most fun. Like your Ruger apparently, the sights are small, and just plain black. A dab of orange nail polish took care of that problem.

I use my little LCP2 22 just like you intended. Very good piece for that bum around everywhere gun. One neat feature is the whole barrel is stainless. You can easily polish the entire thing which has been shown to really slick up and improve reliability. I’ve read and learned myself this will help if you want to plink with non premium ammo. Also any holster for a lcp2 will fit.

Watch out for those marauding soda cans! They can be rough customers for a tiny pistol with difficult sights! :D I have wondered about the little Ruger .22s and have looked at them a time or two. Thanks for your report. I probably should buy one. I don’t know why, but what the heck does why matter, right?
