I’m a big fan of .22 LR rifles and own several old Remingtons and Savages. Now as I get older, and my eyesight isn’t what it used to be, I have decided I needed a fine .22 with a scope. CZ recently came out with a left handed bolt. SOLD! I bought one and a Leupold VX Freedom 2-7x with Warne rings. My new critter gitter ridder…..

I have half a dozen different brands of ammo to test in it and zero in the rifle. The trigger is adjustable, headspace shims are available, and some say you can play with the torque on the action screws. Amazing accuracy has been reported. We shall see. Range report will follow once I find time to go there.

Welcome to the world of CZ rimfire rifles!
I've been enjoying my 452 American since 2006 and a 455 American since 2018. Accuracy with both rifles is good with most ammo and absolutely stellar with each rifle's preferred ammo.
Have fun with that new rifle and stay safe!

Congrats!

I have an older 452 Ultra Lux that can shoot!

Been a CZ rifle fan for over a decade now with 452s and 453 in rimfire in .22lr .22mag and .17hmr.

Like Kalamazookid my best performers are my 45FS/fullstock/mannlichers.

Gotten sub MOA groups on a regular basis with my first CZ a 452FS in .22mag.

If I can recommend .... think about a Leupold 1-4x20 scope.

Edit; on second look I see you already have a Leupold scope....you will have a lot of fun with that combo!

Nice guys!! Have heard the CZ line is top notch and that wood is very appealing along with the bluing. Be very interested in one in 22magnum for target and varmints.

I bought a 452 full stock in 2006. The first trip to the range told me I'd struck a goldmine. After 6 decades of .22 rifles, it's the best shooter and best looking .22 I've ever owned.

An almost magical trigger to match the beautiful wood and action.

Interesting feature of the CZ rimfire line-up is the ability to easily change the barrels and magazine well inserts, allowing one rifle to serve with .22LR, .22WMR, and .17HMR.

I am very happy with my CZ 455 American .22LR purchased about 4 years ago. I chose to equip mine with a short Williams front ramp and bead with receiver sight, perfect for small game use within range of the .22LR cartridge. Came with CZ factory steel 1" scope rings and I have a new Tasco World Class 3-9X40 ready to go if I feel the need to change.

I have an older 452 trainer, very plain jane but accurate!! With ammo it likes 5 shot 1/2" groups at 50 yards is not difficult. And not just premium stuff, CCI Blazers and Mini Mags are some of the best shooting stuff I've tried.

You'll like that 457. I bought one in 22WMR, although the right hand version, when they first came out. And they fixed the backassward safety with the 457 too. Great gun as has been every CZ I've owned.

My favorite bolt centerfire this past year has been a CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel with the very excellent set trigger. Enjoy your 457.

Please start with the Action Screws at factory settings. if they then need adjusting Anschutz recommends of their wood stocked rifles 35 Inch Pounds for front screw and 30 for the rear. (I always find the proper fitting screwdriver bit, then epoxy that in a 1/4" socket for the Torque Wrench to use. Harbor Freight 1/4" drive wrench is very affordable ($13 when on sale!)and has held up for around 20 years so far!)

Ivan

I have some older sporter 22's these torque setting have always been dead on!

That rifle is a looker for sure. I bet she shoots too.

I like CZ rifles, and have a small collection, including a 452 Trainer and a 457 AT-1, shown along side a Kimber Hunter Classic.

I have found most of my .22's shoot well with CCI SV & Wolf Match Extra on the cheaper end. Most bulk ammo does not shoot to these rifles capabilities - Relatively poor QC / Consistency. Good quality match ammo, like Eley, RWS, SK, and Lapua is expensive, but brings the best out in a good .22. Any of the three rifles pictured are sub 1 MOA at 100 yards, and .3 or .4 (sometimes less) at 50 yards with the right ammo.

Most of the rimfire benchrest shooters at My old club in CO shot CZ's. Outstanding accuracy. Even more so once They learned to torque the stock screws. 19 - 21 works best. Try front to back and then visa-versa. These guys are shooting .300 inch groups @ 100 yards. And not using the super hi grade ammo.
