Browning FN 1922
I have a friend who works at a local gun shop and calls me if anything shows up he thinks would interest me. This was brought in for consignment by a gentleman who said his father-in-law had brought it back from the ETO. I have a few German bring backs but wasn’t very knowledgeable about the FN 1922. The fact that it was in excellent condition, had a similar condition holster and two matching mags made me think I needed to take it home. The asking price wasn’t unreasonable but when my friend indicated the seller wanted to move it, I made a counter offer and after a phone call, we had a deal for $550.00 out the door.
Much of the production was sent to the Luftwaffe but based on the holster type, this one was likely issued to the Heer. The pistol has the correct WaA140 waffenamts as do both mags. The holster has the maker’s marks on the inside of the flap. As best I can determine, the serial number indicates mid to late 1943 production. At any rate, it’s been well taken care of over the years. Poor cell phone pictures but comments are welcome.

Those are very nice and great condition. It is a great design, and fits your hand and is easily concealable and points so natural.

It looks like my Browning model 1910/FN 1910, it's parent. And you are right about it fitting the hand and balancing beautifully. These are awesome semi-autos.
I occasionally see it listed as a Browning 1922; but I most often see FN 1922, which looked like a 1910 with a long nose, and 2 extra cartridges. It became the most used handgun by Germans in WWII. I believe it had a 70 year manufacturing history.
I'm shocked that it has not become a more highly sought-after piece of history. They are still seen at reasonable prices. An absolutely splendid example of John Moses Browning's brilliant designs.

I believe that you did very well on that one. I would love to have one like that in that kind of shape. A great collectible.

Great find! I luckily inherited one with the Nazi markings. Mine has the wooden grips and dates to 1942. It is in similar shape to yours.
