Just added the 2.5" Python to my Python family.
This makes the 8th gun I've purchased and haven't shot. lol
Probably won't shoot any of the Pythons either?

Colt 357Mags

Nice collection of Colt Pythons. Hey there’s a 5 inch
barrel model out now.

All the Pythons I’ve looked at were well put together
and finished. I definitely would recommend them.

I’m waiting for a 45 Long Colt Anaconda, but would
also like the 5” Python.

Thanks for sharing.

They are not Altmont. His 2.5" barrel Python has the factory Altamonts on it just like the set that came with my 2.5" Python.

I saw the 2.5 the other day at less than MSRP. The 3+4 inch will tide me over until I decide. Sure like the looks of the shortest bbl even though it’s just 1/2 less.

Probably get one soon.

And now the 5 inch is out. And what about the DLC?

Yes, the 2.5 has the Altamont's with factory emblems, but the 3" has inexspensive, aftermarket grips, the grips are fine but the Colt logo is a low quality copy.

Python 2.5"

Not shooting them is a huge mistake! I have 4 (3 older ones and a newer 3”) and shoot all of them on a regular basis.

And unlike the older guns, I really don’t see the newer versions appreciating in value for decades. Shoot and enjoy them!

Here's the 2.5" Python I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I replaced the Altamont supplied stocks Colt went with for aftermarket stocks.

I applaud Colt using service stocks for the new 2.5" model as that was what was supplied on original short Pythons (vs. target stocks), but the Altamonts are disappointing to me.

Are the grips shown the Altamonts or the aftermarket grips?

I'm sorry if this wasn't clear to you. Look at the last picture in post 1. Those are the Altamont stocks provided by Colt with their latest Python offering with the 2.5" barrel.

The stocks in my pictures are another brand which are more faithful reproductions of original Colt 2.5" barreled Python stocks from "back in the day". Colt went with the low bid for service stocks for the new Pythons, hence, Altamonts. The ones I bought are much better looking and just about identical to the original issue stocks.

Those are worse than the Altamont's though?
Great gun though.
