I stole it!

A few weeks ago a buddy showed me two Colts he just purchased, a a 4” Diamondback 22lr and this cherry 6” Python (1981). He was jazzed that he was able to get them both for $1900. I asked him if he’d swap me the Python for one of my 3.5” 27-2s, that I am into for $900. He agreed!

It came with nice Altamont grips, but swapped them with some 2nd gen from Deer Hollow.

That's a very nice Python. Congratulations on a nice revolver. Those look like generation 2 stocks. Are you sure the gun dates to 1981?

Yes, it’s an 81. I swapped the grips for 2nd gen grips because I like em.

Yes CH4, you stole it alright! That's an awfully nice Python...but I think that you underestimated the current value of your 3-1/2" Model 27-2. But with that said, that vintage minty Python will always be worth more than a 27-2. Well done, particularly since both parties are happy with the deal. About a decade ago I picked up this 1982 Python "truck gun" from a local gun shop. It had been bounced around in the glove compartment of some guy's pickup truck for years, who then traded it in. It does have some dings and scratches, and was wearing Pachys, but I couldn't pass it up for $650 OTD. Mechanically, it's like a Swiss watch and smooth as silk. At the time I bought this one, nice Pythons were selling for $2K+. I put some Hogue one-piece stocks on it, but I may look at Deer Hollow for some 3rd Gen replacements one of these days since I don't see many original stocks for sale. Enjoy!
