Of course, like most here, I'm a die hard S&W guy....and like perhaps some more, all but 'gun poor'.
I do not NEED another .357 Mag. ~anything~. - You guessed it, there's a 'BUT' coming.....

Have a friend and retired co-worker and we worked our LE career together for 30 years. He's not a 'gun guy', but has always known I was a hapless gun geek.
His Dad passed away last year and he has an accumulation of a dozen or so guns he wants me to help liquidate for him.
Nothing in the bunch is of any real interest to me - mostly basic shotguns, .22's and such. There is a M19-5 2.5" nickel snub, box, papers etc I told him should sell pretty easily.

Also in the group is a Colt Python 4" blue, c.1979 by s/n. No box, and it's had Pachs on it for grips. Otherwise, it's about in perfect condition.

I've never owned a Python - always admired them 'from afar' so to speak, and considered them too pricey for what was received.
I already have a good early-60's S&W M27 5", so feel like I already own S&W's 'Fine Flagship of the .357'.....

I'm charging him nothing for handling sales of the guns - will be a good Winter project to clean them all up and find buyers, hopefully locally.
We've agreed that I'll take the Python for $1800 - that's just a very little more than what I'd really like to lay out, but he bought the guns from the estate at a price where he needs at least a break-even return on - and I did not feel it was appropriate to haggle.
Working in LGS's - I've seen Pythons go for a lot more than that.

So, looks like I'll be getting a first hand tryout on an older Python. I have no desire for a 'new' 21st century model.

Sound off any Python fans!
Really want to source some nice OE type Target grips for it and a firm called 'Deer Hollow' has some beautiful models - not cheap, but didn't expect them to be....
