I can get a Riley defense RAK 47 7.62x39 new for just over $500

Anybody have any experience with them? As is almost always the case I see mixed reviews online. Leaning more towards good than bad.

Also being U.S. manufacture are these .308 bores or .311 ? I may end up reloading some rounds?

I have hurd mostly good things about Riley defense over on AKFile.com forum.

Thanks

I have heard and read more good than bad. I happen to have near a case of old Wolff ammo and several mags from an AK I had oh 10-12 years ago.

And since I can (hopefully) get it at a much reduced price I jus might jump?

If they are making them with .308 bores then they need to rename the chambering. Didn't Ruger go down that road with the Mini-30 leading to poor accuracy with "proper" 7.62x39 ammo? SAAMI states that the nominal bullet diameter is 0.311", with a tolerance of -0.002" so 0.309" to 0.311".

That's what I'm still in the process of trying to figure out? My guess (for lack of better way to put it) is they're .311

But I've yet to see anything definitive on it after my small bit of research.

I've reloaded rifle for 40 years but have never ventured into the AK realm at all. Majority bolt gun stuff. I'm again assuming the old steel cased ammo I have is .311? gonna go check

I did see on a website they offer an extra expanding die that's .311 with their 7.62x39 resizing die. I'm just dipping a toe into the reloading thoughts because I hate with a passion paying waayyy to much money for factory FMJ stuff.

But on the other hand I'm sure it's not something I'm going to be shooting a ton either.
