Bul Armory .45 1911 Government

I picked up a Bul Armory 1911 "Government" .45 acp recently, and after getting the chance to put a couple hundred rounds thru it today, I thought I would post a couple pictures.

"Bul Armory" firearms are made in Israel, and might be better known as the same company that makes Magnum Research firearms.

To say I am impressed with the quality of these 1911's is an understatement. The fit, finish, accuracy, feature set and trigger pull is well above a lot of 1911's I have handled. The trigger is one of the best I have ever felt on any 1911 at any price.

No malfunctions with 200 rounds of hardball, and clover shaped groups at 25 yards. A very nice 1911 at any price, but especially at about $800.00.

Shout out to Forum member "sshakrr" for the beautiful spalted maple grips. They look good, and really soften the guns look compared to the G-10 grips that come on the gun. Still plenty of grip with it's checkered front strap and RMH.

If you are in the market for a nice 1911, you could do a lot worse than the Bul, especially considering the price. I understand Bul originally made it's name turning out high price race guns.

I have one of Bul Armory's 2011's in 9MM. It is a great gun and easy to shoot well. I was going to buy a Staccato until I was able to compare the two side by side. The Bul was $1000 less for basically the same gun. The choice was a "no brainer," and one that I do not regret.

The only issue with them is that they are hard to get in the US and with the current situation in Israel I suspect they will be harder to obtain new.

My son has a Commander size version in 9mm he picked up at a pawn shop. First range trip was nothing but failure to feed problems. Then looking it over we noticed that magazine was marked 40 S&W. Once we tracked down a correct magazine it turned out to be a very nice shooting handgun.

That is a nice looking 1911. I wonder why the safety is blue but not the slide stop etc?

There sure are a lot of 1911 makers any more. When I got my first one it was Colt, Mil Surplus then AMT, Caspian and whoever made the "Silver Cup" frames. Now it seems like every firearms company outs out a version plus all the custom makers. Not bad for a 112 year old model. The Israelis make some darn fine firearms.

Mine is a US made Springfield Armory.

Bul Armory makes some great pistols!

I have the Government and a Commander Model, both in 9mm. They are awesome shooters. As the OP stated, the fit and finish are amazing.

A friend has the Commander length, a very nice little gun.
Unfortunately he has become fickle and says he will shoot his even newer Canik tomorrow.

Never heard of the Bul. Interesting. Need a range report. What is the trigger pull? Mine is 2 1/2 pounds on both of my Colts.

So you are saying that your Colt 1911's came from the factory with 2.5 pound trigger pulls?

I have handled a couple of them and read about them. The fit and finish is really good. I intend to get a 9mm Commander when I can find one.

Both of my Bul 1911’s came out of the box with 3-1/2 pound trigger pulls. the Government Model has a blued safety, while the Commander version has a stainless one. Both have blued plunger tubes.

Bul isn't super well known inside the US, but their firearms are widely used elsewhere in the world. I've handled a number of their polymer framed CZ-75 style pistols lately (Impacts, Cherokees, etc..), and have been pretty impressed by them.

Their 1911s are a great value, and I think their line of 2011 pistols is one of the better values in that market space as well.

Don't know why the blued safety & plunger tube. Like the blued ejector rod and thumb latch on my SS S&W 69, I don't care for the look either. Might try stripping the finish on the safety and polishing it to match the gun. If it dont look right, a SS replacement.

My trigger gauge is kaputt, by I have a fairly educated trigger finger, and I'd bet under 3 lbs, with the proverbial glass rod break, and no trigger slop.

Iv'e never owned a 9mm 1911. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks I guess.. I should get with the times and try one. Maybe a 2011 style high cap version?

Also can recommend the Bul Armory 1911. Have the Govt in 9mm and a Magnum Research in 45. Very Similar and both were beyond my expectations at the price point a few years back. To the OP, that looks great!! Glad you like them.

Don't know, as I have only field stripped it once to clean before going shooting. I would assume their are some MIM parts, though looking at the hammer, I don't see any casting marks. I don't think anyone is making 1911's in this price range with all forged parts anymore, including Colt, though I did read somewhere that Tisas, of all people, have recently gone to MIM free 1911's - On $350 1911's, no less...

Bul 1911 UL

My favorite carry gun is a 1911 Bul with their ultra lite upper 3.5’ trigger, very accurate and extremely light fully loaded with NOVX 65 grain 9mm. Even has my initials for serial number. They will no longer make this version of the ultra-lite, only the 2011 version. I knocked out front site, will probably reinstall it.
I have shot their comp guns unbelievably light slides thought for sure they would not run but they did perfectly.

Very nice. I'm not generally huge on stainless 1911s and the larger slide serrations, but your pictures are making that BUL like excellent. I also like that they're putting out front checkering without adding on a magazine well.
