Picked up this pistol that was delivered yesterday. 1st impression, this is the no frills, polymer frame copy of the CZ 75 Assembled in the Philippines by Rock Island Armory. Pic has everything that came in the box, I added the 3 MecGar CZ 75 mags as they seem to lock in more solidly than the single factory mag. Popped the top off and was amazed at the clean machine work in the upper. Slide to barrel fit is tight, solid steel guide rod, and a "dimple" in the barrel recess for the end of the rod. Double action trigger has to be 15lb, but that doesn't bother me as the 1st shot is for "shot cocking" as Col Cooper opined. SA is about perfect. For $296.92 to the house I wasn't expecting a Sig 210. I'll try to shoot it soon, figure to load up 8 mags with a dozen mixed rounds each, blast away, and see what happens.

Only complaint so far: I can't imagine why a DA/SA of modern manufacture would not have a decocker. With a heavy DA there is no need of a safety but there is a need to lower the hammer on a live round safely. The instruction manual does lay it out, something I already know, but it isn't quite satisfactory. Joe

Joe,

Where did you pick this gun up? Did you order it to a lgs? I haven’t heard of it. Guess it’s like a P07?
I’m interested in learning more about it.
I own a CZ sp01 Tactical/decocker.

Hello Les. I got an email a couple weeks back from Palmetto State for a "daily deal." I actually get 2 or 3 a day. Their price was $219 which I had looked at twice during the day and that bedtime "OK, you got me" set in. Adding in Fl sales tax, shipping to a local pawn shop, their transfer fee and BGC brought it up to $297.

Being on PSA's email list can cost you but 95% of them are for stuff I don't need.

It is not even close to the CZ 75 or P07 but it seems solid. I hate a safety instead of decocker. Very thin for a double stack, doesn't have grip panels or changeable backstraps. I just packed up 150 rds of mixed ball and HP ammo along with mixed factory CZ 75 and MecGars and the single factory mag to go out to Triple N as early in the morning as I can (they open at 9). I'll follow up with a range report. Nice hearing from you Les. Joe

A LGS had one a couple of weeks ago. I handled it. Nice build, felt tight and easy to grab the sights when pointing. I have a RIA 1911A1 Standard that is a great shooter. I bought a M200 .38 Colt clone that is a fun wadcutter plinker. RIA builds good guns. If the MAPP had a decocker/safety, I would have taken it home.

Took the pistol out to Triple N along with 6 mags and 200 rds of assorted FMJ/SD HP's.

The good: pistol functioned flawlessly with any ammo in the 4 MecGar CZ 75 mags. Accurate S/A trigger, some creep and mush but acceptable. D/A is probably the worst I've had, akin to the H&K VP70. Positive ejection and slide lock.

The bad: Slide would not lock on empty with an old, surplus CZ 75 factory mag. Did it twice so it is a problem mag.
The big problem, after less than 100 rds the rear sight came loose, as I could have lost it loose. I'm shooting OK (for me) then all of a sudden my group opens wildly. When I looked the sight was about to fall off on the left side. Had to push it back in place after every shot. Had to quit with over 50 rds left. I hope there is a "locking" tiny allen screw in it, I'm sure I don't have anything that small in my kit.

I'm satisfied with an expected quality level of a sub-$300 gun. If'n the allen screw is there I can hopefully locate an allen wrench to fit it. If not I'll get to experience Rock Island/Armscor customer service but that would be a different thread. Joe

That looks like a Bul Cherokee or Tanfoglio Witness Cz clone. If it's like the Witness clone I have, it'll be a shooter!

It is a Witness clone, Tanfoglio design assembled in the Philippines. Just got done tightening down the sight, used tub caulk for a thread locker. Guy remodeling the bath borrowed my blue Loctite and it must have rode home with him. No biggie, there's an "indent" for the set screw so I built a little nodule and when it hardens should be good to go.
