Any opinions on the High Standard Camp gun? The .22LR edition in particular? Prices seem to be all over the place when you can find one. They seem well made and have a reputation for accuracy. Tell me what you think.
Is the Camp Gun just a Sentinel with a longer barrel and cooler grips?
I bought this one on the cheap three years ago because the place thought it was broken due to the ejector rod not snapping back when released. They didn’t know that High Standard was so cheap they didn’t bother to put a spring in there, though later they did.
Its an ok gun. It was in my tackle box until I replaced it with an even cheaper H&R 929.
I’m going to tell you right off they don’t approach a S&W Kit Gun in either quality or accuracy. Further more from what I have noticed, the quasi collector prices they are asking for Hi-STD Camp Gun puts the money right up with a used S&W 34. As a matter of fact all Hi-STD rimfire revolvers are priced as collector guns, because they ain’t made no more. The Double-9
series is same kind of comparison to a Ruger Single-6. Not even close. The
High Standard line of Target auto loaders were top shelf, the revolvers get buy on their coat tails.

No, I know it’s not an S&W. But I’ve never heard anything bad about them. In my mind it’s a 4door Chevy sedan. The S&W is the drop top Cadillac lol. Just wondered if they had the same following as the H&R 22s.
