Default SIG HAS DONE IT - THE SMALLEST, LIGHTEST 9MM WITH THE LARGEST CAPACITY!

I looked at my email this morning and I received one from SIG. When I opened it I saw they are offering free shipping on magazines, terrific BUT.......... I see they just came out with a 21 round extended magazine to fit ALL P365 models!! Can you imagine if you had a need, you could change the standard magazine for one that gave you 22 rounds on board all in a Micro 9mm pistol!

What's next? A 50 round drum magazine?

I posted the link to their website but the Forum won't allow it so if you are interested just go on their website and click on magazines.

Cool. It opens up the option for an alternate two-handed hold, weak hand completely below the strong.

The criminals will love that. Extended mags seem to be all the rage in some of the crime videos I’ve seen lately. Of course mine and other states won’t allow them legally …….

Certainly not something to have in the pistol for CCW, but great to keep in your nightstand drawer if something goes bump in the dark. Also viable as a back-up magazine on a belt mag. pouch.

I love capacity in all my guns. But in a small, lightweight carry gun, I'm not sure that's a good idea. Fun for the range, certainly.

But for a nightstand gun? Were I to need a full-size capacity pistol in the night, I would instead opt for a full-size pistol such as my XDm 10mm.

Longer sight radius, more size to help control recoil, more accurate with a longer barrel. All positive attributes that the P365 doesn't bring to the table. Its attributes are geared towards personal carry.

Lastly, as Clint Smith famously said, "Your pistol should allow you to fight in order to retrieve your rifle." (Paraphrasing here.)

I don't desire for anyone to believe this 21rd mag is the magic elixir for a nightstand gun. That might get someone badly hurt.

My opinion is worth exactly what one pays for it................

I've got a 12 round magazine for my P365 which renders it stupidly large for a supposedly pocket pistol. If I need larger than that AND I have to go out, I'll stick with my M&P with the 17 round magazine.

Dave had always thought of himself as a minimalist—until he walked into the gun store that day. He was just browsing, as he usually did, thinking about his next purchase to add to his “modest” collection of firearms. A few Glocks here, an old 1911 there, a shotgun he never fired because he liked the look of it, and of course, his Sig P365.

He’d bought the P365 a year ago on a whim. Compact, sleek, perfect for concealed carry, or so the sales guy had told him. He’d taken it to the range twice and fired a few boxes through it. It felt nice in his hand, the trigger was smooth, and the accuracy was decent. But, for some reason, it just didn’t feel like the right gun. Maybe it was too small, too "mainstream." He had a nagging suspicion that it wasn’t enough to make him the true tactical badass he had always imagined himself to be.

Then, just as he was about to leave, he saw it.

A gleaming, boxy piece of plastic with a label on the front: “Sig Sauer 21-Round Magazine for P365.”

It was like the clouds parted, and a beam of sunlight broke through. Dave’s heart raced as he picked up the magazine, his mind racing with possibilities. 21 rounds in a micro-compact pistol? This was it. This was the answer to all his problems. No more worrying about the low capacity of the stock 10- or 12-round mags. He would be ready for anything.

“Oh, yeah,” Dave muttered under his breath as he examined the magazine, “This’ll give me the edge. The edge I need.”

He could picture it now. His buddies at the range, all watching in awe as he slapped that 21-round mag into the P365, chambered a round, and fired with reckless abandon. The recoil would be nothing. The muzzle would be steady. His grip would be perfect. And most importantly, he would have enough ammo to engage the entire SWAT team if necessary—with a micro pistol.

The clerk noticed Dave’s excitement. “That’s a pretty hefty mag for such a small gun,” he said, raising an eyebrow.

Dave puffed his chest out, trying to act casual. “Yeah, I like to be prepared. You know, for whatever comes my way.”

The clerk nodded, clearly skeptical, but sold him the mag anyway.

Back in his car, Dave wasted no time. He unwrapped the magazine like it was a gift from the gods, inserted it into his Sig P365, and felt the weight in his hand. It was heavier now, the little pistol almost unrecognizable with that oversized magazine sticking out the bottom. But who cared? He wasn’t about to let a few extra ounces ruin his moment.

“21 rounds. I’m invincible now,” he said aloud to no one.

He drove straight to the range, and by the time he pulled up, his hands were sweaty. He was ready to show the world—no, the entire shooting community—that he had arrived.

At the range, his friends were already there. Mike, a former military guy who was always talking about tactical maneuvers, was the first to spot him.

“Uh, dude,” Mike said, squinting at the Sig. “That thing looks like it’s been on steroids.”

Dave smiled, relishing the attention. He loaded up the magazine and took his first shot. It went fine. But as he squeezed off round after round, the thing started to feel... unbalanced. The recoil was more than he was used to. The small frame of the P365 wasn’t built for a magazine that big, and the muzzle began to rise uncontrollably. He tried to correct, but it was like trying to steer a jet with a toy joystick.

“Jeez, dude,” Mike said, watching Dave struggle. “Maybe you should try a bigger gun. That thing looks like a gimmick now.”

Dave was determined. He spent the next half hour blasting through the entire 21-round mag. By the end of it, he was sweating. His wrist hurt. His accuracy was shot to hell. But he wasn’t about to admit that this was a horrible idea.

Instead, he walked over to Mike, who had just finished a clean run with his trusty Glock 19.

“Yeah, well, I’ve got more rounds than you,” Dave said, attempting a weak grin. “So, if there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, I’ll be fine.”

Mike just stared at him, clearly unconvinced. “Right. Sure thing, Dave.”

As he packed up his gear, Dave felt the weight of his decision. Maybe he had gone a bit overboard. Maybe the P365 wasn’t designed for a 21-round mag. But as he stared at the oversized, impractical magazine sticking out of his pistol, he couldn’t help but feel a bit of pride.

He had more rounds, and that’s what mattered, right?

I carry a CZ P 01, about the same size and weight as a Glock 19. It has a 15 rd magazine, but then I carry a 21 rd mag from my CZ SP 01 in my front pocket. It extends below the butt of the pistol, but if I need more than 16 rds to get out of a situation. That is the least of my concerns.

Still carrying either a 3913 w/ two spare mags [25rds] or PC Shorty-9 and a spare 59xx mag [28rds]. Sparks Summer Special holster behind the right hip.

Still mired in the 20th century!

Should be good enough for a "shootout" at Aldi's!

It's always good to have options, and not everyone has the same resources or purposes. If wanting/needing to stick with one pistol, an extended mag may have purpose. And that's just one example, assuredly there are others.

Have a 365X and a 365 X Macro. 12 round flush in X, 17 in X Macro.
Here’s a 17 round Mag in the X, no mag in X Macro.
Haven’t seen the 21 yet, but will get a couple.
I’m thinking the 21 mag is a reload or range mag, not a carry mag.

About 15 years ago, there were 20 round magazines for the KelTec P11 9mm. There was even a 32 round mag for it. The P11 could use S&W mags.
For some reason when the S&W 365 came out, it was hailed as the "First, small, light weight, compact 10+1 round" pistol. The P11 came out in 1995 with the 10+1 magazine. I bought one then (ser#528) and have never had a problem with it. It handles any brand of ammo I've put through it with out a hitch. It's my back up EDC. I've always wanted to compare the two pistols. I know 365 owners really like it as do the P11 owners.

Not sure if I'll buy one, but, hey! The more options, the better, right?

I have a P365X, the shorter bbl with the larger grip, and use 12-round flush fit mags with the Maggutz 14 round conversion kit. I carry OWB.

While I have pocket carried it, I think if I wanted to pocket carry on a regular basis I would buy a standard (small) grip module and a 10-round flush fit mag. Converting to that configuration for an evening out would only take a few minutes.

Hmm. Maybe I'll do that...

Re the sweaty handed loser with the 21-round mag above, why make fun of other people's firearms's choices? The antis do that all the time, of course, about all of us, but I think it is uncalled for within our community.

I EDC a 365 IWB in every day clothing with 10 round mag, IWB with outer garment (sport coat on details) with 12 round mag and OWB (open carry on duty) with 15 round mag. With same capacity back up mags. I like the versatility that the various capacity mags offer. But I am unsure of the need for the 21 round mag as I like to practice reloads with the mags I carry. But...to each his own.

Let's see, in my safe I have, 3 Sigs, 2 Glocks, 1 Colt, 1 Ruger and 1 S&W autoloaders. When I go to the range with my buddies I take 2 DAO revolvers, a 5 and a 6 shot. When we're ready to go to lunch they have each shot 3-4 times as many rounds as I have. And I have 3-4 times as many 10 ring hits. What's wrong with this formula?

You had that typed up, just waiting for this moment, huh? Insert the model of firearm where the xxx was, and hit enter. I was waiting for Fabio to show up with a box of ammo.

When Sig introduced the 17-round mag for the P365, I bought two. After spending about 45 minutes with my UPlula trying to load them with 17 rounds, I have gave at 15 rounds and sent them back to Sig.

I have a 12 round and two 10 round magazines, each converted with Magguts kits adding 2 rounds to each with virtually no change in length for my standard P365.

If any squabble I get into ain’t over by the time I have fired 39 rounds, neither of us is very dangerous

And to think I worked every day as a state agent doing alcohol/drug investigations from 1979 until we went to semi autos in 1987 with a 6 shot 357 magnum S&W revolver and I never carried reloads. The only situation I found myself in and had to fire my weapon, three shots took care of the problem.

Take the SIG Saga, as it had come to be known, and substitute in the original, 20 inch, pencil barreled Colt AR-15 SP-1 and the 30 round magazine and you get pretty much the same story.

And for accuracy, substitute “outstanding” for “decent”.

So far in this thread we have learned that 21 rounds of ammo take up more room and weigh more than 12.

I have a couple Glock 32 round mags for use in a PDW. Just for S&G I tried one in my subcompact 26. They worked fine, though practical use is pretty limited in a carry handgun. I guess the extra firepower might come in handy if you know you are walking into trouble, but then, I wouldn't knowingly be walking there to begin with, and certainly not with a sub compact handgun.. Fun on the range, I guess.

A 365 with 21rd mag is not a night stand gun. It’s a dresser drawer gun.

My 365XL with it's stock 12's is big enough. I bought a 15 for it, and then it's no longer a easily holstered OWB, let alone really useful as anything but a mag for the occasional bedroom placement.

Is that a 21 round extended magazine in your pocket or are you really excited?

I have 15rd that has never been inserted in the gun. Rarely have I even carried the 12, but it’s nearby. To each his own as they say.

I don't even like the P365 mags with the pinky extension. I'll stay with 10+1.

If I wanted mass rounds I'd buy a 33 round mag for my Glock.

Lol…you should be a writer for gun rags.

When I got my FN510 and it came with a 21 round mag, I thought that was a little overboard.

I agree and not suggesting it should be carried that way. IMHO it is strictly a back-up and nightstand magazine. That’s what I was trying to covey in my OP.

I have owned and shot the 17 round magazine for the P365 for over a year and never had any issues with shooting the gun with it. Again, not for carry-strictly a back-up magazine.

I have run the gamut of the micro nines. I forgot how shootable and concealable this little guy is with 6+1. I have been leaving the plastic home and carrying this MK9. Somehow, I am still alive...

The only magazine I use with my P365 is the 12 rounder that came with it.

I don't carry a spare magazine. If I did, it would be the 21 shot!

I realize this is fiction and supposed to be humorous, but why would his pistol feel "unbalanced"?

Why would it recoil more?

The small frame of the gun was built to accommodate any size magazine, and why would the muzzle rise uncontrollably? Why would he be sweating? Why would his wrist hurt?

I don't get it.

Regardless of the magazine capacity, the Sig mag's tend to be very stiff for the first half dozen loadings however after use they do ease up a bit and full capacity is not hard to achieve. When I first got mine I was able to load my 17 round mag with 16. I let it sit loaded for a few days, then I went to the range and shot a few boxes of ammo through that magazine. When I got home and loaded it up again I was able to load the 17th round. This 17 round magazine is a night stand mag and since it works and functions perfectly, I leave it there for the emergency I hope never happens.

Bottom line is no matter if you are loading one of the 10 round, 12 round, 15 round, 17 round or 21 round, they ARE stiff but will and do wear-in to accept full advertised capacity.

When was the last time you had a proper shoot out with criminals and needed more ammo than a second mag would afford.

Obviously you weren't kilt in da streetz because you just posted.

Maybe you have lived too long in a high crime area.
