For the record I have several S&W revolvers including (3) 617 revolvers. Just purchased a Colt King Cobra Target 6" (10 shot).

With all of my S&W revolvers I prefer open backstrap grips because of my hand size.

Looking at pictures of the Colt KC without grips the frame shape compares with the S&W backstraps.

Don't have the Colt yet but was wondering if someone makes a rubber grip with open backstrap for the Colt.

The Pachmayr Colt D-frame rubber grips will fit. I'm not a fan of finger-groove grips but that's what's out there.

The colt grip frame is way smaller than a 617s. Try the rubber hogue that they use on the standard king cobra they're pretty small.

Neither of these are open back but are worth looking at. I purchased the fully checkered set initially not realizing the checkering wrapped around the back. I’m not a fan of that but otherwise they’re very comfortable. I may try to sand the back down and refinish them.

The second set which approximates Python grips are a nice size and feel very good in the hand. No checkering on the back which is what I was looking for.

Both were from Thailand through sellers on EBay. Be VF advised the frame size on the new Cobra/King Cobra is smaller than the old original Cobra and grips do not interchange. I think the new is a modified D frame and don’t think all D frame grips will fit.
