Colt anaconda

I bought a 6" Anaconda .44 Magnum last summer. After shooting Model 29s for more than fifty years, I find the Anaconda huge and heavy, but an accurate revolver. However, recoil is far more tolerable than it is with a 29 if you're shooting magnum loads.

Colt's new line of revolver is far superior to anything they were making 20 years ago. The "new" Anaconda has an improved lock work and is built to handle full-power .44 magnum loads all day long! I LOVE the 8 inch because it extracts all the velocity possible from the .44 cartridge, though it is a bit muzzle heavy!
IMO Colt's clockwise cylinder rotation and their oversized, "pull" cylinder locking system" makes all the difference because Colt revolvers don't need heavy spring to keep the cylinder locked up, and unlatching results in a clean, non-interference cylinder release!
The "new" Colts are far better than anything they built prior to 2015.

Nice snake, OP!

I recently traded into a new Kodiak, the Anaconda’s ported, non-fluted brother. Fit, finish and function are superb. It’s what the 629 wants to be when it grows up. :D

I was told by Colt at SHOT Show that an Anaconda in 454 Casull will be released next year. :)

THAT is awesome news! The Anaconda was designed around the .454 round but released in .44 Magnum.

When the .454 is released I'll probably sell my Freedom Arms Model 83 in .454. I don't need two cannons.

Beautiful, where did you get those grips? I like them.

First time that I see Culina grips on a new Anaconda. Not just beautiful (like all Culina grips) but to me looks to be a perfect match with that 8" barrel.

I only have one, a plain Jane 6" which I kept with the Hogue rubbers as they work great with 44. Magnum for me.

Here is a photo with a 2" King Cobra near, to show that Anacondas are not that big.

The .454 is just a "hot" .45 Colt so cutting a chamber to handle it makes sense. The .45 Colt "handload" is quite profound, so I would expect anything called a ".454" to be beyond that. The big Colt caliber doesn't really need extreme chamber pressures to deliver massive power.

Those grips are Nills. Found em at Reno show awhile back. They fit the frame like a glove, but I don’t like the covered back strap; I’ll probably take em back to the same show and sell em. Replaced them with a Hogue monogrip in tulipwood.

Anaconda in 454?

I’ve predicted that 2 or 3 years ago.

Actually Colt has already made a few in 454. I’ll spill the beans on that after the 454 officially comes out.

I’m going to buy one. Whether I actually fire 454 in it is still in question.

I bought a 6" Anaconda about a year ago. Most shooting I do with it is the 60 yd steel range with 44 magnum handloads. Trigger has a little bit of creep SA, the DA pull is sweet.
Need to get a Python, I'll see what's left in the bank account after I do my taxes.
