Making my weekly rounds at Bass Pro and found this Italian made XXII with a cheap Weaver 3-9 for $599. Probably an honest 98% with one 10 rd mag.

Edit: Replaced the Weaver with a 2.5-8 and Warne QR rings.

I have one of the early 2000's Mark XXII's that is a Anschutz 64 barreled action in a stock by Weatherby. Shoots like a Weatherby or Anshutz should!

I originally had Leupold 2-7x30 RF Special on it, but my eyes outgrew that scope. It now sports a Veri-X III 4.5-14x40 Adjustable Objective. I can usually get 5 M&M's in a row at 100 yards, using Ealy Team (Blue Box) with the EPS Bullet.

A friend had a German Mark XXII from the mid 70s with the tube magazine but sold it when his kids got too expensive. I found him a replacement about 6 years ago for $700, but he passed.

The Anschutz 64 action is of course a bolt action.:)
Have you shot the semi-automatic XXll also? If so how do they compare
for accuracy? I have always wanted one but was not sure how accurate the semi-automatics were?
Thanks
Ed

Bought my Japanese made one at Christmas Time 2021, terrific shooter.
One quirk with mine, the removeable bolt handle doesn't fit, both the original and the spare.

Very nice! I have never come across a decent condition Italian made XXII at a reasonable price.

I've got a couple variations of the Japan manufactured semi-autos and the Anschutz bolt gun. The semi-autos can hold their own against most other semi-autos but can't do 0.25" 5 shot 50-yard groups like my XXII bolt gun.

What rings/height did you use?

On any Anshutz 64 action, you need rings for European 13 mm grooves (American Standard is 11mm). Height is based on Objective Bell diameter. This scope looks in the 40mm family and needs Med/High, 30mm bells usually take Low, (but not "Close").

Maybe 35 years ago a friend bought one, the clip fed. We were messing around at our school range, and at 50' we had a supported match. It was basically a dead tie, one hole that you needed a magnifying glass to see any difference. I was shooting my 1404 Anschutz match rifle against it. It wasn't the first time someone showed me the accuracy of the Weatherby .22.

About 35 years ago several of us guys went camping in a squirrel-rich environment.
I took my Savage 24, my brother-in law showed up with a Ruger 10/22 Sporter and his friend had a Weatherby .22.
I really liked both rifles. Not long afterwards I bought a Sporter from a guy who won it in a shooting match. Paid $115.
I looked for a Weatherby for years and finally found a nice Japanese tube-fed for $500.
Funny thing, a week later I found another Weatherby.

A little late as it looks like you have a nice setup on yours now.

The scopes on the semi-autos are the Weatherby Mark XXII 4X50 scopes with integral rings. They are a 4x with 28mm objective. The "50" in the name is marketing speak for the scopes light gathering capability.

The bolt action has a Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5-20X44 AO scope with Leupold 11mm high mount rings.

I don't believe I saw anyone else say this, so I will... Be careful not to lose your magazine! Replacement mags for the Weatherby Mark XXII can be found, but you'll pay dearly for it. I've seen them as low as $75, but generally they go over $100.
