One of my favorite modern TV shows was the original "NCIS" series with Mark Harmon. I understand that for most of the seasons the NCIS team carried SIG P228s. If you watch, you'll notice that the team always removes their pistols (in their holsters) whenever they sit down at their desks, and they always grab them and clip them to their belts when they're heading out to investigate a case. They seem to be easy on/easy off and OWB, so I'm wondering if they were OWB paddle holsters or OWB clip on holsters. Any idea what holsters the team was using for their P228s?

Not a practice with which I agree, but I will admit that sitting in a chair armed can suck. I have one chair in my office that is there just for uniformed deputies.

Several times over the years they have a clear view of the holster, and it's a paddle. Now which model, or which maker I have no idea.

The last two or three years Gibbs started carrying a 1911, in a holster that threaded on his belt. They never showed him removing it after that, or putting it on. But several times you could see him take the holstered pistol out of the drawer. And when he was wearing it it was obvious that it was threaded onto his belt.

If sitting at a desk wearing a holstered pistol is a pain, then why when Tony occasionally would wear a shoulder rig would he still put his gun in the drawer? :D :D

A Google search suggested it maybe an Aker "flatsider" holster.

Might take a look at their website.

If it is, I’ve owned a few Aker holsters in the past and they were always high quality. Haven’t ordered one in years, so I can’t speak about their current stuff.

The writers are not familiar with serious gun people. I wear a holstered pistol all day every day a work. I do not like having it out of my control.

Maybe because it's the rule that agents are not armed while in the office? Seen that on NCIS New Orleans, and NCIS LA. In the new show, NCIS Origins, they lock their guns in a file cabinet or desk drawer, and that is 30+ years ago, before scanners at the doors.

And Mike Franks wears a shoulder holstered Smith N-frame (?). Again, where is the 1911 he famously carried in the NCIS series shows?

Wondered about that myself.

In the latest episode of origins, I'm pretty sure he tells the homeless Vietnam vet that he was in the army. But in the original series he carried the Zippo with an eagle globe and anchor. When he died Gibbs and five other Marines carried the coffin and there was a EGA on the coffin.

That makes it sound like he was a Marine.
