Hi all! Recently I picked up a new SIG P220 Full Size Legion .45 ACP (DA/SA) to complete my little P220 family. Posted about here:
Got a MA compliant gun by 'accident'. Very nice but with that lighweight aluminum frame and full size slide something did not feel right to me (sacrilege you may say as most P220 .45 were built this way). I started an experiment swapping parts with other P220s I own and got these below:
An all-steel P220 Legion .45 Legion SAO (that looks like SIG factory made it) made combining parts from three different donors: the locking block from my Carry Elite Stainless .45, the steel frame from the Legion 10mm SAO R2, and the slide from the new Legion .45. Result is a Goldilocks Legion .45 for me: all steel, with all parts matching, including perfect frame to slide fit, flawless function all around, and even color match.
A lightweight P220 .45 DA/SA Carry made combining the slide of the Carry Elite .45 with the aluminum frame of the Legion .45. That all-steel Carry Elite Stainless was so heavy. The new Legion .45 felt to me just... too full size for that light frame. This light Carry feels just right.
The 10mm 'Boba Fett' was put together from the remaining parts from the other two, and I like it a lot. My new 10mm monster was built by combining the steel frame from my Carry Elite Stainless .45, with the locking block and the slide from my Legion 10mm SAO R2. With this now I have a P220 10mm with great DA/SA SRT trigger and optics ready. Have another 10mm Legion SAO (still in factory configuration) to keep it company.
