357 SIG?

Thanks for the info gentlemen. After some more thought I purchased aSig 320C in 357sig. When the cold weather and snow goes away around here I will get out and spend some time shooting it. So far I like the way it fits in my hand and the trigger is way better than any Glock that I have shot. Now if I can find a good price on ammo.

Good luck with it. Should be fun.
You'll probably need more luck finding a good price on ammo.

It's a shame ammo prices can dictate the choice of a round, but sadly they can.

In a perfect world, 10mm would be about $10 a box, but it isn't. And 357 Sig isn't that much cheaper. However, what is getting a great round really worth? One might argue that a Yaris gets better gas mileage and is cheaper to run than a Tahoe. That's true, until you get into an unexpected, ugly confrontation that results in a bad, life threatening wreck. Walking away in one piece from the Tahoe, I'm pretty sure one would forget the extra coin spent on fuel, but would rather be very grateful for having all that extra metal for protection.

Just as it is with our choice of ammo for training and self-defense.
Spend like it's game day, not coupon day.

grover99,
Enjoy your compact 320. It will serve you well

357 SIG is a modern favorite of mine. I have been shooting and loading for it since the mid nineties. You get the external and terminal performance of the 357 Magnum 125JHP (#1 single shot stopper in recorded shootings) in a higher capacity semi auto. This is much more controllable than a 2" or 4" revolver. 357 SIG is one of the most inherently accurate cartridges out there.

As mentioned, S&W has only chambered the SIGMA and M&P for this cartridge. I need to pick up a compact one day.

The SIGs are great. The P229 and P239 are prefect platforms for the cartridge.

The P226 is larger than the P229 but has no gain in capacity without the use of extended magaznes. The X5 is a laser accurate target version.

SIG also has the baby P224. Kind of a chopped down P229 and it will even take P229 or P226 magazines.

HK has the USPc, P2000 and P2000SK. I can't find any photos of mine (need to fix that). The P2000SK is by far the most accurate tiny gun I have ever handled. It has no right to group as good as it does.

In answer to Jessie, there is my favorite, my MP5. It will do 30 rounds of 357 SIG on target in under 2 seconds if you want it to or select a burst fire configuration or single shot. The 9" barrel really makes this a flat shooting speed demon of a cartridge. Pretty much a point blank shooting carbine for any range you would encounter in an Urban setting.

In regards to ammo, if you can afford to, buy full cases on-line and you will find it much more reasonable than the corner Mom and Pop store.

I need full cases on hand, especially on a demo day

I love the round and it is my carry choice. I have Sig 239 in the model with the rounded non snag frame & slide ( cannot recall the exact model name) in 40 with a factory 357 sig spare barrel and a Glock 32. Nice shooter and concealable.

I have one .357 SIG pistol and love the caliber, but it is LOUD and snappy.

Springfield Armory XD in .357 SIG. A few years ago my birthday(12-16) present and Christmas presents from my wife was a conversion barrel in .357 SIG for the M&P .40 here. She also got me a 9mm conversion barrel and a few magazines so I was a happy camper. One pistol and three calibers.
