I've got an old Vaquero in 45 Colt that I want to put a 45ACP cylinder on. I've called Ruger a couple times in the past and they said "NO we won't put a 45ACP cylinder on your revolver because it is not one of the anointed."

So I've been watching Ebay in hope of finding one. I did get one for my other Vaquero about a year +/- ago. This year I've seen 1 and it was rusted and went for $100.00.

Friday I tried Ruger again and they said, "No, WE won't do it because WE don't want your business or your money."

The one I won on Ebay took about a half hour with an Arkansas stone to dress it to fit. Come On how hard is it to do?

CLOWNS.

I've decided to bid on a 44 mag cylinder and then either buy the finish reamer to ream it for 45ACP or find a sympathetic soul who will. I'll also have the throats reamed to fit.

Does this mean I won't be buying Rugers? Damn Straight. I'm not going to buy any NEW weapons from those arrogant
coprophagic sycophants. They can go pound sand.

I can think of many reasons why I don't agree, but with less than 40 posts here, what I say might not have any credibility to some. Did once work in a large machine shop, though.

P.S. -- Love my Rugers too.

Really? Did an actual live person at Ruger say that?

Having dealt with them, I would guess that the only possible way of that coming out of the mouth of any single one of their people is that if the Ruger employee had to experience the full load from you as evidenced by the harsh tone of your original post.

If you were not rude to them, I don't mind saying that I have serious doubts as to the veracity of your quote.

Mr. Mccarver, What they actually said was they wouldn't install a cylinder in 45ACP unless the revolver was a convertible. I suppose they don't have enough to go around.

Thank you for the clarification. That sounds like a more reasoned response.

The thing is that they have made runs of convertible Vaqueros in 45 LC to 45 ACP for Davidsons, among others.

I had one of my those first model vaqueros in .44 magnum. I hated that the stop notch didn't line up with the loading gate. If you turned the cylinder until it clicked, you went too far and could not load or unload.

For a guy trained on Colt SAAs, this bothered the hell out of me. Sold the gun. Won't buy a single action with this design flaw.

Easy enough to get around and not the case any longer with new models.

I understand there is a "free spinning pawl" modification which can be done to these older vaqueros.

I understand this issue has been fixed on the new vaqueros, do you know if it is still the case on the Blackhawks, Super Blackhawks and single sixes?

Sorry for the thread digression.

I know it is on the New Model Blackhawks, don't know about SBH or SS.

Ruger, exactly like virtually any current manufacturer of any product, does not do custom work of any kind, period. It makes no difference if they make a virtually identical product, that only entails a relatively simple part change, they won't do it! Not for you, not for me, or anyone!

Simple example. I always wanted a #3 Rifle in .22 Hornet. Ruger made them. I asked if I bought a .223 #3 if they would install a Hornet barrel. The answer was the same as what you got, NO, that is custom work and we don't do custom work! They would replace the .223 barrel with a new one if asked, this is a repair, but no caliber change.

Your situation is exactly the same. If the frame of your revolver was marked as being a .45 ACP/.45 Colt they would have installed a new /45 ACP cylinder to replace the missing one because that would be a repair. You have to get over the attitude that you are special and a company should do something just for you because of it!

I've had several 45ACP cylinders fitted on single action Rugers over the years. Never had any thing but GREAT customer service from them..
