Solid Winchester

Congratulations! Your Winchester Mdl 12 16ga
is a great Shotgun.

I have my Great Uncle's Win Mdl 12 12ga just
like yours. His was a Farm Pickup gun, how it
stayed so nice I'll never know. I think it is
Vintage mid 1950s.

I treat it like it is the last Model 12 on Earth,
but I take it Pheasant hunting for a day
every year.

Thank you for taking pictures and the time to
to post them.

Sweet! I'm completing a deal with a buddy for a 1958 vintage. Can't wait! I shot a buddy's quite a bit back in the 70's and have always wanted one but other stuff got in the way (a whole bunch of revolvers!).

Here it is ….

Here is one, Model 12, recreated for looks and not for hunting. I got it for a very good price years ago.

I am a huge fan of the model 12. No plastic parts, sans butt plate, no stamped tin, no MIM parts, no expense spare, no corners cut. Just milled steel and walnut. Winchester's ventilated rib was of such high class and over engineered that Winchester lost money on each one but refused to cut corners. In Dave Riffle's book on the model 12 he states that there were over 3,000 hand inspections on each gun. While other manufactures shot 10% overload proof loads, aka blue pills, Winchester tested theirs to 200% without failure. After firing the standard blue pill load, the guns were then dis-assembled, and every part inspected before re-assembly and boxing for sale. I prefer and collect prewar models but there sure aren't any flies on post was model 12's. Pure class.
