No point in trying to add anything to that.

Naw, that's just from this morning. Picked and canned most of the tomatoes last week and the week before. Now, just a few coming in but a lot of peppers. Time for salsa. . . :)

Bullseye,
how close are you to Maggie Valley? I just love the Blue Ridge Parkway!

North Carolina, near Cherokee and the Smokey Mountains entrance, and start of Blue Ridge Parkway entrance.

We have driven the entire length of the Parkway a couple times.

Man, oh man. I'm getting excited again.

Vacation comes in less than 3 months now, and I'm picturing all the fun I'll be having in the BR mountains then.

Hoping for some early December snow. :)

Red,

I'm in Virginia, near where Floyd and Patrick counties meet where the BRP crosses Virginia Route 8. Here's some photos from last fall to further encourage y'all to come on up for a visit and a slice of homemade coconut creme pie at Tuggles' Gap Restaurant. We'll send y'all home with a quart of homemade apple butter.

If Tuggles' Gap Restaurant is on the Parkway, we ate there. We had breakfast with real salty ham, it was good. I can't exactly remember where, is it near Mabry's Mill. Just a beautiful place for pictures.

The Shenandoah valley is just breathtaking. I always think about Stonewall Jackson's battles (with his 'foot' cavalry) in that area.

It is, and you did. The real salty ham is what we call "country ham"--old-fashioned salt cure that just melts on your tongue. Next time ask for a bowl of the homemade 'mater soup, and a slice of the homemade pie.

J.E.B. Stuart's and Jubal Early's homes are in the area.

The last time I saw Mabry Mill was 1976. I guess it made an impression on me. The Blue Ridge IS God's country.

My wife and I were on the BRP in October last year. We traveled from Stanardsville down to Lynchburg, stopping at various places along the way, and we just loved it. I had never been there before, and the country is so different from the Rocky Mountains we grew up in. I had always thought you just couldn't beat the Rockies in October, but the Blue Ridge just might give them a run for the money. We'll be back there again.

Was just over your way

I was just over your way last weekend checking out the Hillsville Flea Market and Gun Show. Had a great day with my Brother-In-Law there checking out all the treasures. We drove back through Floyd and loved the beautiful views of the rolling hills!
