Today, at one of my favorite dealers, I ran across a Model 41, badly in need of adoption.

Although it's missing a stock screw (S&W Customer Service has some on the way to me), it has a very nice finish.

It's extremely accurate, and a ball to shoot. I spent about an hour and a half at the range, and ran several types of .22 ammo through it. It seems to like Remington target the best so far.

The S&W Catalogue, 3rd edition, doesn't have the serial number sequence per se, but extrapolating seems to put it as a 1992 manufacture. If anyone has any better date, please advise. The serial number is TVR5xxx

41

So does that mean you want to buy it or are giving us a heads-up? I looks like a very nice one and you should jump on it depending on the price which you didn't mention.

That is a nice pistol and it seems to be in excellent condition. I had a Model 41, but I regretfully sold it about 20 years ago. I am on the lookout for one...;)

Funny that you tried to hide the serial number in your post but you can plainly see it on the pistol.

Congratulations on the purchase of the Model 41 as they are one of my favorite pistols. I have a 7 3/8 inch barrel with muzzle brake from 1968 and a 99% 5 inch Model 41 from 1980. They are just a hoot to shoot.

Oh, I bought it. I couldn't stand the tears in those blue... Wait a minute! Wrong orphan!

It was $675, which I thought was a good price, based on what's selling on Gun Broker, Guns America, etc.

:D :D
