Well, I doubled my Sigma holdings today. I have had an SW9VE for about a year. I purchased it lightly used with 4 magazines. I smoothed up the trigger a bit but left all springs stock. It shoots great and the trigger feels like a good quality double action revolver.

This morning I saw that Academy had a sale going on with their price reduced to $299.99. On top of that if you signed up for a store credit card they would give a store credit of $50. On top of that (geez I sound like Billy Mayse) S&W is offering a $50 rebate through the end of the year. So, I bought myself a new SW40VE for Christmas. When it is all said and done, with tax, I will have $220.16 in a BRAND NEW Sigma with warranty.

Now I have one in 9mm to plink with and shoot cheap and another in .40 S&W to shoot serious. For what it is worth the .40 came out of the box with a much better trigger (less roughness) than the 9mm did. It feels almost as good as the one I smoothed and have shot a lot. Maybe S&W is taking a little more care at the factory on the new ones.

The .40 spent brass is nearly as easy to find in the grass as .45 -- much easier than 9mm. I used to pay my kids a $0.01 bounty on spent brass. Then I realized they were raiding the bucket in the reloading room!

Well, I got Sigma-Sigma to the range today and I am impressed. I was firing some (new to me) revolvers and saved the Sigma .40 for last. The trigger felt very similar to the Ruger GP-100 I had been shooting before. I, well my daughters fiance and I, put 50 rounds of Blazer brass through it with no stoppage of any kind. Testing for accuracy at 7 meters I put 15 rounds (three groups of five, slow fire) into a group I could have covered with a silver dollar. Who ever says the Sigma is incapable of good accuracy has not shot mine. In all honesty I think the Sigma shoots better groups than my other .40, a Glock 23. I will need to put some of the Blazer Brass through the Glock to be a fair test.

Geez, I just saw you're from Commiefornia! I couldn't believe it when I saw the 10 day wait. I just recently bought a G22, a G27 which I traded for and walked out the front door with them. Loaded and strapped to my hip at that. And people call us Hillbillies! Crap Crap Crap I have a Model 66-3 and a SW40VE too. Tslepebull, The difference between my Glock's and the Sigma's machining and fit is large. My Sigma's accuracy is not as good. When in battery, there is a slight movement in the barrel on the S&W but none whatsoever from the Glock. This has to affect accuracy, at least I can tell a difference. I still like both weapons for reliability. Never had any issue with my Sigma.

Man that's a bad ass deal, I'm going to Academy to get that deal tomorrow! I already have a sw9ve and i love it. I'm going to get the sw40ve for the same reason as you are. I was thinking about getting a Springfield XD subcompact .40 like my brother, but screw that, there's no way I'd get it with this presented opportunity. Thanks for putting the info out there man.

While you are at Academy buy some of their Monarch Brass 9mm it is marked down to $7.99 a box. Now Sigma can get a snootful and Sigma-Sigma can get a rest.

Sorry Tommy69, the regular price listed here is 9.99 with the sale price at 7.99. Apparently some of their sale prices are locally dependent. Six months ago I was paying 12.99 a box if I could find it. It looks like supply has finally caught back up with demand.

Picked up my Sigma .40 today, going to the range tomorrow. Did some dry firing and the trigger pull is very smooth and less than the pull on my model 19.

Well, I put Sigma-Sigma on the bench today. I slicked up all the contact points, removed the burrs on the stamped parts, and finished up with a little puff of powdered graphite. The whole thing took about 45 minutes. It would have gone faster if the new kitten wasn't helping. To show that I am not showing favoritism I gave Sigma an improved fluff and buff also. Now they are both not just smooth but Sigma/Smooth.

One thing I did not do was remove or modify any springs. A smooth consistent 10 lb trigger is very controlable and I do not want to sacrifice reliability.

Great news Yelohamr. You will like it. Fire a box or two through it and then access the Sigma Trigger Job on YouTube and slick it up; it will be even better.

I just happened to be driving by Bud's this afternoon with cash in my pocket and stopped in to take a look. They had them for $299 (no store credit unfortunately), but I settled on the Allied Forces model in .40 instead, for a bit more. I'm going with the free mags

Surprisingly I find the trigger on mine has a very smooth DA feel, not gritty in the least. I agree that S&W must be taking more care in their little gem. Hopefully we'll have some quality time in a week or so.

I sold my Sigma SW9VE to my son in law (way too cheap) for home protection. I miss it but at least it went to a good cause. Very dependable pistol! I never had any kind of malfunction with over 2000 rounds through it.

Hey that's not a bad thing. They sound like very enterprising kids. Remember they will have to take care of you (hopefully) in your old age!
