The following is traditional Christmas Eve fare in my family, normally served after Midnight Mass. It originates from the French Canadian branch of our family. Tourtiere (pork pie), served with assorted pickles, and an orange-cranberry relish. For the beverage we have my home made hard apple cider.

Here's one that's been a Christmas morning family tradition for at least four generations on the German side of the family.... Dresden Stollen. It's an sweet egg dough bread with candied fruit and nuts.

BBQ

On the way to visit the in-laws, I was able to stop at Bill Spoon's BBQ in Charlotte, NC, where I got a sandwich. Locals might be blase about such as sandwich, but to a Northeasterner like myself, it is sheer heaven, better than any Christmas goose:

I know it's a day early, but I thought I'd start a Christmas dinner thread. I'm sure a lot of y'all won't have time to take pics tomorrow of your dinner, but if you do, add your pics here. We all love food pics! Almost as much as a gun pic! I'll start with dessert. Made my strawberry swirl cheescake yesterday for dessert tomorrow. Missing piece? What missing piece? Who? Me? :p

You're killin' me!!!!!!! I'll take two..............please????!!!!!!!

A Honey Baked ham and their sweet potatoe souffle. Tried twice to make fudge, two attempts failed, but I'm not giving up. The English Toffee was a success.

Turkey, ham, two kinds of stuffing, scalloped potatoes with cheese and bacon, peas & carrots, asparagus, dinner rolls, pumpkin bread and cheesecake.

I wasn't even sure the weather would hold out for the kids to come up yesterday so I made a pot of meatballs for whenever they got here. They got here at 6:30. :)

So today we will have the prime rib, etc. It's a weekend event. :):):)

My wife's family celebrates on Christmas eve and her brother hosted the event. We were asked to bring rolls. Dinner started with shrimp, cheese, drinks, etc… and could have stopped there! Prime rib, mashed taters, salad, rolls and cheese cake.

My side celebrates on Christmas day. We were asked to bring a salad (I counted 23 people in attendance). Similar hors d'oeuvres, turkey, sausage, taters, squash, rolls, jello/cream cheese salad and a Greek salad. There was a big snowball cake and at least five different homemade pies.

Mrs. Chad's big buns and what's left of my salad. I'm still stuffed. :p
