Soothing razor burned skin, what to use?

+1 Used to have a hell of a problem with my bikini line but not no more.
Seriously though- Shave in the shower and do the finish work at the mirror-I haven't bought shaving cream in years-I just use the lather from the shampoo in the shower and catch the sideburns at the sink. Also another tip if you use the disposable razors-buy the ones the women use.even though they are pink, they seem to have more of that comfort gel that makes them glide easier .

I was having the same problem a few years back, my face would look like I was shaving with a chainsaw. I went old school, single blade safety razor, shaving soap and badger brush. I shave after I shower, just before I get out. I also try to skip shaving on weekends if I can.

As I have gotten older my skin has become succeptable to razor burn. What is the best thing to use to sooth the irritation? When I was younger I used to shave with Noxzema Skin Creme, it was helpful if you could stand the smell all day.

Where in Indiana does this "face shaving" take place? All the men and half the women wear beards.

The trick for me is to shave in the shower, it really makes a big difference!

No razor burn there. Probably should have showered and brushed my teeth before trying to get some sugar!

I myself have always had a problem with a heavy beard and as a result I have to use multiple razor strokes over the same area to get a smooth shave. This produces razor burn, especially on my chin. 30 yrs. ago the conservative company I worked for finally caved and let me grow a full beard. When the whole beard thing turned into more trouble than it was worth. I shaved it down to a goatee. To this day my chin is still susceptible to razor burn so the chin whiskers stay. I refuse to spend more than 1 min. a day on shaving what parts of my face not covered by the beard. I usually dry shave with bic disposables or use a Remington foil electric. After about 2 months the electric's blades are dull so I toss it and buy another one. The replacement blades are about 3/4's the cost of a whole new razor, so I just get another. The tri head circular norelco style electrics shave close but REALLY give me razor burn.

One of the guys here turned me on to the disposable razors at Dollar Tree. These have four blades each, and you get three for a buck. My face is SUPER sensitive for some reason. Most disposables make it look like I've took a load of birdshot to the neck. Can't remember who used these and recommended them; might have been Shooboy. Best ones I've used in years.
