what ammo are you using in your 15-22

has remington .22lr ammo always been so bad?

i've got over a brick of older remington ammo that i'll eventually use up but i don't recall ever having issues with remington ammo in the past.

I use Remington POS Bulk. I think it works fine. For a while i had ftf every other round, which led to an oob. This of course blew out my extractor which is ok by me. This 15-22 is much more fun to shoot loading and then shooting one bullet at a time.:D

I know, i know i should send it back but i threw out the box and lets just say i "lost" the bill of sale.:D

Its cool though, the hot pink crayola job on the lettering goes nicely with the hot magenta mag pull aftermarket stuff i got for it.:D

As it stands this 15-22 is my favorite home defence gun!!!:D

I used to use Blazer and it worked fine, but man was it dirty. I use Federal bulk now, and no problems as of yet.

I used to shoot Fed Val Pack 550 from Walmart. I won't be doing that much longer. I'll be soon be shooting Fed Val Pack 375 from Walmart.

Armscor

my 15 22 has made the trip to s&w and back and I have been shooting fed 550 but I tried some of this Armscor stuff from midway and not only did it run nice but grouped much better than the Fed stuff although its a bit more due to shipping but I like it.

so you're going to purposely pay more?:confused::confused::confused:

I wasn't given a choice. That's all Walmart had. According to the manager, that's what he expects to get from now on.

At the new rate per round for the 375 box, it is the equivalent of paying $16.82 versus $16.47 for the 550 box. That doesn't bother me near as bad as the price jump last year from $13.47 to $16.47 for the 550 box.

All that being said... I paid about $50 bucks including tax for 1,500 rounds. Not much for 3 days of 15-22 fun at the range.

Dang, Phil, that's about .64 per thousand more than you have been paying! Isn't that going to cut into your shooting budget? Or (wait for it---), your beer budget?

A 15-22 owner has to do what a 15-22 owner has to do.... Pugsters chew toy allowance will have to be cut. [Who am I kidding... the dog eats first.. then me.] :o

Sounds like Federal is using the old Procter and Gamble trick. Give the buying public less and charge them more. P&G does that all the time with their toilet paper, soaps, paper towels, pringles, etc. etc. Lot of ice cream containers were two quarts, now quart and 1/2, but the same price. WTH !

i was just at wal mart (greenville, sc) last week and picked up a 550 count of federal for 15.47. they must have had 30 boxes. i think i need to go back and buy more.

You can't go wrong with CCI MIniMags, which seems to be the premier ammo now for semiautos. That's what I broke my M&P 15-22 in on. But mine shoots the best with Federal 710s copper plated 40grn cartridges. On a budget the Federal 550 bulk pack is good decent ammo. It's so easy to go thru a lot of ammo with this rifle, it begs to be shot fast. I stocked up on the Federal 710s, buying two 5000 rnd cases from a local dealer. I highly recommend buying in bulk and there are several dealers selling cases on the auction sites. You'll save money buying by the case.

Here in Utah county we have 4 walmarts spaced about 10 miles apart, none of em' have the same stuff. The one closest to me only carries Rem gold bulk and sometimes Winchester. I went to the Springville store today and they had Winchester and Federal "target grade" bulk $14.00 for 325. I bought a box to try out, but that's a bit high priced. I can get American Eagle in 500 bricks, but they only have them in lead, not copper jacket for $21.00 or CCI $7.00 a box from my local gun shop.
