Model 36 banana grips?

Checked out a model 36 (no dash) at a pawn shop last night, and the thing had bananna grips on it... Never seen them on a 36 other than on a 3" barreled gun. Guy didn't want me taking them off to look under, but I can't help but think they're not origional...

S&W sold J frame bannana grips as an accessory...........they could have been put on any rd butt J frame over the years (including the one you looked at).
The 36 no dash you looked at would have been shipped with std. Magnas

Wouldn't let you take them off?? That is a no buy in my book. Probably hiding something.

I wonder what he's trying to hide by not letting you remove the grips???

I'm probably going to go back in there with a set of magnas and see if I can't work out a trade for the grips that are on it. The gun had a little fleck rust on they cylinder, but otherwise looked fine. Just don't need it.

Want the grips tho!
