What S&W revolvers are on your want-to-aquire/grail gun list? Include a reason if you want to.

I'll start it with:

M12-4, 2-inch RB; CCW

M686 CS-1 (or non-IL 3"); my grail gun, IMO, all around great. 357

M27-2, 6" preferred; mine was stolen years ago; The ultimate S&W .357 in my book

S&W Model 17 (6-shot, 6" barrel, no underlug, preferably a -4 or -5) - to complete my "Classic Bullseye" 3-gun set (I already have a Model 25-2)

S&W Model 14 (6-shot, 6" barrel, no underlug, preferably a -4 with the gas-ring on the cylinder to reduce fouling in the yoke) - to complete my "Classic Bullseye" 3-gun set (I already have a Model 25-2)

S&W Model 29 (6-shot, any length/configuration barrel) - to complement my 629-5 and to shoot .44 Magnum loads (my 629 is being fed .44 Special only, since it's serving as one of my Centerfire Bullseye guns and wearing an UltraDot)

S&W Model 610 (4" or 5" barrel, factory D&Ted frame) - to serve as another Centerfire Bullseye gun, and to give me a reason to reload for .40S&W

Beyond that...I dunno...maybe a 4"/square-butt 586 or 686, because my other two 686s are 6" (one soon to be 5", whenever I get around to having the barrel replaced). Possibly nickel-plated (586), since I don't have any nickel-plated Smiths.

this is always fun...

625-3 3"

617-3 or 617-4 10 shot in 4" or 6"

25-2 target

242 just for giggles.

Great stuff and totally diferent reasons. I like that! Keep it up! (242, just for giggles? Me too, except for the $$$. That's why it isn't on my list)

Another Model 500 (Currently on order with late April or early May delivery) in the 10.5" version.

617 10 shot 4" to complement my 6" models -- would be willing to trade my snubbie Model 63 for one.

360PD for CCW pocket carry -- would be willing to trade my 351PD or 3" .357 Model 60 for one.

I've always wanted Mountain Guns in the 629 & 657 models.

386PD would be a nice to have.

On the current short list (with the proviso that price is always an object). The reason for all of them is, "just because":

M-19 .357 with 2 1/2" barrel and round butt.

M-581 .357

M-16/K32 .32 S&W - this is something I'll likely never have because to get it at the price I'd be willing to pay, I'd have to knowingly cheat the owner.

M-45 .22 - same comment as above.

1) Pre-lock, 3" 337 - Really want one bad!
2) M351
3) 2", round butt M657
4) 3" pre-lock M317
5) Debating on whether the new 5" 63 is on this list or not?
4) Just acquired a few on my short list recently:
-2", target sited, M317
-M33
-2" M651

Ask me tomorrow and this list may look completely different:rolleyes:

1) Any shooting grade 38/44 from any period, in any bbl length

2) A shooting grade 520

I'd like to get one of these this year. Said the same thing last year. If the stock market doesn't come back up, I'll be saying the same thing next year.

Well in the past week I aquired thru a trade and two purchases of three guns that were on my list at the start of the year. I still have two on the list.
Traded a Model 57 no dash with 4 inch barrel for a 29-2 with 4 inch barrel ( helps fill out my Model 29-2 collection)
Bought a 17-4 with 6 inch barrel (Range Gun)
Bought a 18-4 with 4 inch barrel ( Girl Friends Range Gun)
Still looking for:
27-2 with 6.5 inch barrel ( will complete set of 27-2's in all barrel lengths)
29-2 with 8 3/8 inch barrel (will complete set of 29-2's in all barrel lengths)

Hmm... the old ones would be shooters not collectors.

.38 Special M&P 5 screw, 4" barrel
.32 Hand Ejector
Model 21 .44 special 4" (or shorter)
Model 65 3" Barrel
Model 627 4" 8 shot. Probably my grail gun as it'll be a pretty long time before I can afford one.

Oh - almost forgot - .38 S&W Perfected Model break top. That's one I'd really like to try shooting.

1) S&W Model 17-6 blue full underlug barrel , 617 pre IL and a model 17 with a shrouded extractor, all in 4" barrel lengths.
2) S&W Model 43, 34, 63 RB snubs.
3) S&W Model 45 4" .22 M&P .
4) Colt Diamondback or Trooper III 4" .22 LR.

You may have noticed that .22 LR caliber guns are my favorite.
Seems that the ones listed above are becoming increasingly difficult to find lately (without using online auction sites).

Through some trading recently, I've pretty much filled my short list. I now own a M65-2 4", a 66 no dash 2.5", a 629-4 Mountain Gun 4", a 325 PD, and a 329PD, and a pre lock 442. I'd still like to have a 3" 65 and a 686 pre lock 4".Otherwise, I'm good for now.

Always wanted a model 13 with a 3 inch barrel. Late eighties so I believe a 13-3 would be in order if i can ever find one

I wouldn't mind having another #650 & #58, but the #58 needs to be nickel. 3", RB, nickel #10 & #13's would be nice but are not really necessary, as I have two #10's and a #64 now.

"oh yeah, a 296....just cause I don't own one now...a humpback 44 just appeals to me..."

The guy below is also looking for one.
