Model 53 Question

On those guns that came with both the chamber inserts and the .22LR cylinder, was the auxiliary cylinder serial numbered to the gun?

On my August 1962 shipped Model 53 the .22 LR cylinder is numbered to the frame, and the .22 Jet cylinder is not... ...Ben

I've owned two. Both LR Cylinders were numbered.

A sample of 10 guns ranging from #K440xxx-#4K8xxx shows there is no logic to S&W's serial numbering on these guns!
On 8 guns the Jet cyl was not numbered, that leaves 2 numbered. Only 2 guns have the Aux cyl, one is numbered to another gun and the other is not numbered. All Jets were shipped with the cyl inserts.
