Anyone know what this is? I also wonder what S&W's margin is on this item, ie is it a big moneymaker for S&W?

Someone was selling new ones on here for $389.00 not long ago. Good price and I'd love to shoot one but I know once I shot one I'd have to have it.

when i was sending mine back for repair at Cabela's i saw the salesman pull up the greenscreen with my info and the record of the gun. i saw a price field and it was 359.00. i paid 439.00

Are you a dealer? If so look in your book, if not it's not really any of your business what they pay for one. They don't ask how much money you make do they?

Why isn't it nice? A guy is trying to figure out how much a dealer makes on a gun, which is none of his business. And for the record there are different prices that dealers pay depending upon quantity, wether they are a direct dealer, buying group member, etc.

everyone knows this, but maybe he was just shopping around, maybe his dealer said he would let him have it at cost and he wanted to know what that was.. i dont know but he just wanted to know ...for you or anyone to attack him is uncalled for... i dont guess you have ever got on the net to see if anyone has it cheaper.. if you dont wanna help people who make posts then dont reply in their threads

Smith & Wesson's typical discount for LE, employees, suppliers etc is 40% of retail.

i don't want to start a catfight but where do you live? russia? for you to think he has no business knowing what the dealer pays is ridiculous. how do you think free enterprise works? competition my friend. and if i can find out what you make, i will and i will barter. having said that, i also understand the dealer or whoever has to have some kind of markup to make a profit. he cannot stay in business without it. if it is not what the market bares then he has to lower it. sad fact of business. it's a dog eat dog world out there.

All those who think I'm wrong why don't you post what you make on here so everybody knows how much you make?

not sure what that has to do with anything because what i make has no bearing on what my company makes. granted i don't run my own company but even if i did it would not really track for you.

oh, and it is 96k

i am actually in a real good mood. today i had my orientation to a gun club so i can shoot "at will". they have good ranges, with falling plates and the best skeet/trap fields in the area. i couldn't be happier!

This is a totally legitimate question and my motivation is really just interest in the industry as a whole... I asked what margin S&W makes on the gun and what margin dealers make. Especially in light of Big 5's 20% off coupon which they keep extending and which a local Big5 manager told me is being used more for purchasing MP15-22 than any other one item.

To the poster who equates this with revealing one's personal income...thats just silly. Personal info falls under privacy...while what a national manufacturer's wholesale cost on an item is not...

As TC notes the police/military discount is 40%.

And S&W is making at profit at that price. There's room to "deal" between MSRP and what your "local dealer" wants.

I agree w/ you! What I earn is between the IRS and me and I always give them all the information, without fail, and never, I repeat never, take a deduction or a credit that is not 100% accurate w/ all the paperwork and documentation to back it up! I even get a receipt from all the folks mooching at the airport and on corners and from all the Boy Scouts that are having paper drives to go to camp.
(In case there are any IRS folks on this forum, I'm a fan of the IRS!)
