My buddy Clint & I went to our local gun show today. Opened at 9AM so we got there a bit later. Found a parking spot, paid our admissions and looked at all the marvelous stuff on the tables. Some used guns were priced higher than the local discount store were selling new. Ruger 10-22 was 25 bucks higher for instance. We left after walking thru & seeing all tables. Went yard saleing instead. Not much there either so went by the gun shop. Found 100 rounds .357 Winchester primed brass [new] for 10 bucks. They have 4 more boxes & I'm thinking of getting them next Monday. Any of you guys do any good at your shows?

There's a gunshow this weekend 4 miles from my house but with finances being kinda tight I just can't handle looking at all those wonderful guns and not bringing any home with me so I decided not to go:(

Two weeks ago spent all weekend behind a table at the local show. Didn't sell anything; didn't buy anything. However a couple of years ago I found a Charlin shotgun that was seriously underpriced, and the show before that I scored a Hi Standard Supermatic; the kind i started target shooting with a LONG time ago. it had the two muzzle brake holes on either side of the front sight, both weights, the box and a spare mag. I was a happy camper.

I'm going to the Ft Worth show the first week in May (around 1500 tables); can't wait to see all the goodies there.

Went to the show at Split Rock Lodge here in NEPA yesterday and saw about the same as Dick reported. Guns priced considerably higher than gunshop retail. Bought a taller front sight for my Marlin levergun, some .32 H&R brass (also overpriced but hard to find locally), and some Bulls eye powder priced reasonably at $15 per pound. Also a Beretta mag for $18. More military "junk" guns than anything else. Also too much carnie garbage.

The show is called, The original Ft Worth gun show and is on may 1st and 2nd. Their website appears to be having problems right now when I tried to pull it up. I've been to it several times and it is a nice show.

Sorry about the slight thread drift. Just trying to help a member see a good show once he moves here.

went to the dsm,ia show today. came home with a new belt and a colt officers match, first year. no box but easy 98%. matches the one i have in 22lr. not many people at the show and all the dealers were whining about no money. saw more nice older smiths than i have seen in a long while there though. mostly common k and n frames. there were 2 jets. one had been refinished and one was outrageously priced.

You're right, Muley Gil; the Chalin has a sliding breech like a Darne. The mechanisms are a little different, however: the Charlin locks up like a Luger, with a toggle joint. The Darne has a physical lock between the barrels and breech. Darne bought Charlin around 1968 and production ceased.

Almost went to a gun show today. But last night I decided to stay home, because last night I decided I would take some of my gas and entry money and buy a pair of grips from a fellow forum member. Everything sure worked out well.

I went to the Tulsa show Saturday and my mind and body nearly went into over load. Lots of everything, prices are sky rocketing, there were lots more people, the isles were narrower, the food prices were outrageous. As usual, I had a wonderful time and met and et with some old friends. I have never been to the Tulsa show with out bringing something home, this time was no different. I got a Match Target model 69 Winchester and a model 41 Winchester bolt action .410.

Today my legs feel like I've been beat with a stick.
