Sig Sauer P226 Navy 50,000 rounds (update 04/14/2010=55,000rds.)

Thanks for a very interesting and well illustrated report. Your listing the ammo weight on a weekly basis has also confirmed my belief that shooting IS good exercise and should be encouraged!

Best Regards,

Jerry

I bought a Sig 226 Navy last year. However this one has a "U" SN prefix as opposed to the "NSW" prefix. Do you know whether there are any differences in mine and yours?
Sorry, can't help you with that.

I have a P226 that I purchased new in 1988 and have put somewhere just over 20,000 rounds through it. My finish is alot rougher from the constant carry years ago. I have never changed any parts but it still shoots just as acurate as when it bought. It was my first handgun and is still one of my favorites next to my many S&W revolvers. Sigs are an impressive piece of workmanship. Joe

Fantastic , one of the best gun histories I've read in a long time. Thanks for all the details. I've got a p229 and I'm about 49,000 rounds behind you, so watch your back. :)

The reason that your Sig has performed so well, is that you bought it on my birthday. I have a 226 that I bought in the late 80's, nice pistol.

WC,

Great report and photos...Thanking for sharing... I have a couple of SIG P-220's... Your reports confirm that they should last me a lifetime....

interesting statistics, good pictures, and good ''workhorse''

Hmmm...
I wonder...

Do you think a pre-war M&P would hold up to 50,000 rounds full house (non +P) 158grn. lead loads?

The one you have is a tough pistols, and you've used it, but taken care of it, and it shows. *thumbup*

P226 is one of the best pistols ever made IMHO. I prefer Glocks, but the P226/228 are a close second.

I've two Sigs. West German P6 and a p239 in 40 S&W. Between the two I much prefer the P6 as it shoots better than my Baretta 92FS. The p239 mags cost me $45 each for 2, in addition to the ones that came with it. The P6 mags when they first came out (the P6 not the mags) if you could find them ran almost the same price. Now a few places sell them for $16.99 (aim surplus) all I have used in my P6 have functioned fine. Sigs rule!!!!!!!!!!. Frank
