686 Mountain Gun barrel diameter

Hey guys, can anyone tell me the outside diameter of a 686 Mountain Gun barrel (at the muzzle) from the first run?

I recently bought a 686 barrel from Smith that they say is a MG barrel (its not laser engraved Mountain Gun) but it seems less tapered than I expected. It is .600" at the muzzle. It is definitely heavier than my .44 MG barrels. I figure this 686 barrel is from the run of IL 686 MG's.

0.761" at the frame, 0.600" (+/- .001 with my caliper) at the muzzle. It may be heavier because the bore is smaller and there's more metal to be weighed. I don't have a .44 Mag MG to measure.

Thanks! I guess its the right barrel then.

Now I have to decide between a 7 shot with MIM internals or a 6 shot with "real" parts. Perhaps I can put a 7 shot cylinder in an older gun with a new hand.

If you don't mind sharing, what is S&W charging for a 357 MG barrel now? I bought one several years ago and it was $127.00 and change plus shipping. Just curious if they have gone up. Thanks.

I paid 137.50 for mine. I think I will have Hamilton Bowen swap the barrels, black powder chamfer the flutes, action job, install a lanyard ring, and chamfer the charge holes.

I'm contemplating buying a 7 shot cylinder for it. But there are no Safariland speedloaders for the 7 shot L-Frame. I mainly want the 7 shot cylinder because its stronger with the cylinder notches offset from the chambers.
