This guy is a real dufus. When he first moved here a few yars ago, I was neighborly and talked a good bit to him, but less and less as the years have gone by. He is a real bottom feeder. Drug user, for a fact, steals his 90 year old mother-in-laws pain meds, got fired from his last job for refusing a drug test, plays his music really loud at all hours, uses foul language around my family, etc. etc. I have gradually just learned to ignore him while at the same time keeping an eye on him. And he has for the most part left us alone.
But yesterday, he came running up to me outside and told me straight out that I could not be shooting on my property any longer because he found out it was illegal. That's crap. We live out in the county in a county that has a City with the same name; he was quoting city ordinances.
We're not in the city, or even police jurisdiction, I tried to explain, but he doesn't hear a thing I say.
I have a nice safe little range behind my house, where I do not fire in the direction of his place.
I'm thinking I'll carry on as usual and let him call it in and make a fool of himself, but my wife thinks he is likely to lie, like say I shot toward him or some thing like that, some how really make trouble for us. So I'm wondering if I should call it in the next time I smell Pot smoke wafting through the woods. Or just let this jack-ass effect me into changing my usual practise. I could go a few miles down the road to shoot but that just don't seem right.
Oh, this guy has a record, so I wonder if he would even go there.
